My parents live on the other side of Mandeville from me, and have a Generac. The downfall is that they have a bunch of trees around the house and its pretty close to the Tchefuncta River (never flooded though). I live just north of I12 in Mandeville and there isn't a single tree taller than 10feet in our entire neighborhood (brand new). Our hurricane plan this year is to ride out hurricanes at my place, and hopefully head back to their house after it passes (assuming I lose power).

We had some bad stuff come through south Shreveport yesterday. Worst I've seen in a long time.
I've got to get a good standby generator, since my electricity goes out with a good strong sneeze. can anyone recommend a good/inexpensive brand for running most of my house, i.e. AC, fridge, TV?

When I bought the house last April, my buddy was cleaning out his pond so we took a dozen 2-5lb catfish and transported them to the neighborhood pond. I'm sure they have reproduced since then
