Beer is fine, just has to be accounted for since it has a good bit of carbs.

Fat-free diets are pretty stupid too, btw.

Might sound crazy, but the best way to lower cholesterol is probably to eat more fat, just the right kind of fats.

Well, carb free isn't wise either. Carbs are your body's quick energy source. Cutting them completely would make you crash so hard you wouldn't be able to make it through the day.

Going low carb works wonders. You still eat carbs, it just has to be the right carbs at the right times.

You'd be amazed what a nice dose of fructose (fruit sugar) would do for your energy levels.

I'll do a fast every now and then. I get damn near manic after a couple days w no food. It really energizes me. I've been fasting one day a week and limiting carbs since the end of duck season and have dropped 20 lbs and feel great. Longest I've gone without solid food is one week. Just did it to see if I could after day three your hunger goes away and you get euphoric.

I will have beer and V-8 on my fast.

Hell, I get so busy at work sometimes I don't even realize I haven't eaten. Then, I'll get home late and have a couple beers and go to bed. Can't do this when I'm working out though.

I don't like fasts. There are far healthier ways to lose weight.

And losing weight on a fast does nothing to adjust your body's response to fat storage or metabolism. If anything it makes it worse for you because your body thinks you're starving.

It works for me. There's alot of evidence out there in support of short term fast. The longer ones I did were more of a personal challenge. Same reason I've done triathlons. I stopped at a week for safety reasons, but it gives me the mental fortitude to know I can go without food for prolonged periods without going crazy.

ETA- I don't recommend fasting necessarily, but I have experimented with diets for years and it works for me. And the low carb diet.
