No way that's realistic for guys who hunt 20+ times a year. Infinitely easier to just get two cases shipped to your house for the season.

Absolutely right.

But most guys aren't hunting 20+ times a year...

I may have been facetious in saying go on Friday morning, but my point is most guys buy a couple boxes or a case to start and then refill throughout the season.

For every guy that buys 2 cases there are probably guys that still have shells from 3 years ago left over.

Look, I know there are a lot of issues. But my point still stands I think there's never been a situation in history where we have had so many hoarding ammo and that's causing part of the problem. Half the guys on the board it seems look for ammo anytime they go into Walmart or a sporting goods store just because.

Quick google search:

"During the 2017-18 season, hunters in Louisiana bagged a whopping 1.08 million ducks statewide with a season average of 23.1 ducks per hunter."

That's what probably 4 boxes per hunter per season?

ETA: I mean I hope that is on the very high side...

Totally agree, the other issue being a lot of camps are in the middle of nowhere. Getting to a Wal-Mart is a chore for us.

Ha! Come hunt with us and you will definitely rethink that second statement. We duck hunt a bunch and prob use 2 boxes a season on cripples.

I Only have about 75-100 cases left. Luckily I ordered 3000 cases in January because I saw the writing on the wall. Rely on China for steel. China is using their steel for their infrastructure and not sending much this way

How many rolls of TP did you buy last year?

Peep ordering 3k cases of shells really screws the casual hunter.

Didn’t know retailers purchasing for resale was considered hoarding. A lot of casual hunters would be left without shells this year if I didn’t purchase.

I'd be curious to know your thoughts on the price increases? A case of Rio's were like $110 pre-covid. What's the issue? Production cost? Increased shipping cost? All the above?

All of the above. Our cost damn near doubled this year. Their cheapest steel shot (1550 fps) cost 50-65/case in years past. It was $95 this year. Our margins are a bit better due to basic laws of supply and demand. My salesman is hassling me to increase our current prices by 30% but I’m not greedy and don’t agree with taking advantage of a situation.

Yes I had them at 139.99 all summer but now that my supply is running low, I went up. Thought I would receive more shipments before the season but the situation is looking dire

Thanks for the info. That actually is not a bad price in todays market, considering I have seen Xpert and Federal shite shells that were 70-80 pre-covid goind for 239-259...
