Water well pump issue at lease

The well pump at our lease is currently out. I changed the breaker at the box and that is not the issue. I think it could be the capacitor panel. Those are about 60 to 70 bucks to replace. Whenever I go to kick the breaker on it just makes a humming noise and trips. We had good power to the capacitor. But after that nothing. I'm hoping it's not the motor itself. Does anybody have any experience in dealing with this and/or opinions of what it could be?

Sometimes those magnetic pick ups (switches or relays?) gets stuck. Ants used to get in mine after rains.

I don't know what the capacitor panel looks like, but if you can remove the capacitor, you can test it with a multi meter.
There's youtube videos showing how if you don't already know.

That has been the cause for mine to stop in the past. First thing I would check.

Contactors is the word I think I was looking for.

Make sure the pump is free also.

Ours stopped working a few months ago. Turned out ants got small debris inside that little switch that kicks the pump on. I was pretty thrilled to have help figuring that out as I was ready for a shower after a full day of work.

Pretty sure you should have an open circuit on your motor leads. If no, dead short in motor. I had the same issue (cap) on a submersible fountain motor not long ago. Motor leads tested open.
Also, I was told by the dude at the HVAC supply house, where I bought my new caps, that there's no way to reliably test a cap with a multi meter, he had a cap tester. My bro in the HVAC business confirmed. ymmv, however.

Pressure switch. Contacts get worn or ants/spiders get in there. $25 or so at lowes. Super easy to change out.
