Howdy,

I am handy, but don't want to try installing a new 50 gallon natural gas heater myself. I will do some Googling, but wanted to know what yall have paid for around the BR area for similar labor?

BTW, I am looking at a Rheem Performance Plus 50gal. Opinions?

Ill look into it again, but years ago I decided against it. If I remember correctly, if your house isn't built (I assume plumbing and venting), its not worth it. Also, we are only planning on staying in this house another 5 years or so.

In October I got a 50 gal gas water heater installed in covington area. Quotes were $1100, $1475 and $2600. Tankless quotes were $3400-4500

They make ventless units now.

Following prices are for the material only, not labor:
50gal natural gas are around $500

Tankless units are going for $1000-1300

If it's not in the attic, it's really a simply swap out. Even in the attic, it's not that bad, just cumbersome trying to get the new one in and the old one out.

Yep. Pretty damn easy

I wouldn't go tankless if you are moving in the near future
