You think they need contributions from you, me??? They get a lot of their money from corporations, big oil, etc. And the entire board is in Texas. They do fight for recreational fishing rights in other states, but choose to ignore Louisiana.

i guess you weren't born when they got redfish gamefish status, and had gill nets outlawed for trout. Maybe you've missed the constant battle over snapper, just because you want to be able to trespass.

Start your own group to bitch about access, and see how much money you raise. Then figure out how to get legislation passed that takes property rights without just compensation.

WRONG. Do a little more research. That wasn't CCA. LA is the only state with ridiculous water way rights due to the napoleonic codes.

Ok young grasshopper. Look up an organization call Save Our Specks. Probably around way before you born. They were the original ones that fought for gill net bans. Henry Mouton was on the forefront. He later was on the board of GCCA. That organization was later taken over by CCA which was started in Houston.

Until CCA steps up and supports the recreational fisherman over the private land issue, they won't see a dime from me. I hope I catch every damn one of the red tagged redfish. They will be delicious on the grill.

actually it really didn't take a turn until additional legislation was passed in the 80s...

and... CCA gathered the horsepower to kill gill nets.. make no mistake about it... but lets not let facts get in the way of a good rant...

a lot of the marsh being blocked off is mainly because of the negative actions of a few people using it.... I know for a fact a large chunk in northern plaquemines parish was never posted until.. the guys were in their duck blinds go tired of folks running through their dekes..

or... worse bow fishermen were running around all night pushing out ducks...

and.... wait for it..... some jack leg in a borrowed air boat hit something in a pond and sued but settled with the landowner....

the only group that can help with access is the courts or the legislature giving concessions to the landowners.. who have been paying taxes on that property for years..

yes it does certainly suck..... but it aint napoleon's fault....

...and were they successful? Apparently not until CCA took over. Redfish success came first, orchestrated by CCA, then came the gill net ban.

Born in '67 so prolly preceeded SoS.

It wasn't CCA that did it. Save our specks with GCCA. GCCA was never part of CCA until CCA took over.

Was never a part until CCA took it over? You do realize those men were the founders of our current CCA? I got involved with CCA over the access issue. It's not them, it's the attorneys.

I was on the state board of the GCCA from 1987 until we split from the CCA in the 90's. The GCCA was always part of CCA, and the split was basically over a debt that Texas claimed that our Louisiana group owed. That fence has long been mended. FYI, it was the GCCA group that got the gill net ban passed and had red fish declared a gamefish. I helped lobby the redfish bill, so I know a little bit about that. Save Our Specks was the predecessor, but GCCA sealed deal on both in the legislature.

Member when you joined CCA you got a free subscription to lasportsman? Then the idiots on LAS got upset that CCA didn't want to fight the private waterways issue (rightfully so) and LAS broke their ties with CCA lol!

Apparently they are back in good graces because if you have a subscription to the magazine and win a STAR prize, you get bonus $

What gave?

You guys don't understand the complexities of our laws. And you'll never get an attorney to voluntarily vote against the guys that fund their campaign. Had to start with Tort reform to our constitution, and good luck getting the Gordan Mackernan types to give up their rights to sue.

I caught a 27 inch trout a year back that only weighed 4.5 lbs. I was surprised it was that light when I put it on the scale.

Amazing that 1 inch added 2.5lbs of weight.
