Lets face it. Vets have to pay for 8 years of school. They have to have Malpratice insurance just like a people doctor. But yet, people bitch about there bill. WTF? Know what it cost for the equipment for an office? My daughter's office spent 200K just for one piece.
And yes, my most was $800 in one pop and that was just for meds for my dog.

I agree, when I was in middle school I had serious thoughts about trying to become a vet. My local vet let me work with him for 2 weeks. The amount of people who came in and yelled about prices was crazy! He was the cheapest in town, also. He explained what I would have to do to become a vet and how expensive everything was. I never bitch about vet costs ( mine anyway) because I know enough about what it takes to run a clinic

If a mechanic sells me a transmission I don't need, I'm going to bitch. I don't care what his costs of business are. It doesn't give him license to rip people off.
I don't have a problem with paying for things that are necessary, but Mechanics, Doctors, and Vets can be pretty shady.

Right after I got my catahoula he developed a sore on the top of his head. Took him to the vet, turns out it was a staff infection. $300 for the check up, a cream, and some special shampoo.

I paid $90 for check-up, shot, and some medicine that countered the infection. I have known small town vets to be much cheaper than highly populated areas. Maybe they just know we po folk

This! Most city Vets will rip you a new a-hole along with other people. What my daughter charges is a lot less then what is charged in Baton Rouge.
