What are you asking?
What to look for in a used one?
Things to stay away from?
Someone to offer one?

Find a guy at work who lost his lease a few years ago and is tired of them taking up room in his garage. Get him to sell them to you for $100.00/ea and do the basic work on them yourself (change oil, diff fluids, air filters, spark plugs, clean carbs, etc) and enjoy the shite out of them. Does one now seem like it needs a new front bearing? Do they both need new boots on cv joints? Sure! But you paid 100.00 a piece for them so who gives a shite.
Oh yeah, first thing, if one has a snorkel, def change the oil and oil filter multiple times, change the diff fluids on front and rear and rear axle seals first! Guaranteed those things have water in them.
Full disclosure, all of the above is what I have been doing for the last few months. Been a lot of fun learning and working on them. They are now at my buddy’s ranch as of this past weekend and the kids learned how to operate them safely and had a blast on them just driving them around.

Step one, find someone with an atv for sale.
There is no step two, it’s a month before hunting season in possibly the worst market of all time.

100%. Dealerships have minimal units in stock, and if you find one you're paying MSRP. As far as a used one, start looking hard NOW and comparing each. People are trying to get new prices (or more) for used ones, so you will figure out really quick which ones to weed out and keep scrolling. Keep looking multiple times a day, because the good ones that are put up with be sold very quickly.
I would look for something within 5-6 years old and no snorkel. I'm particular about honda, and recently bought a 2015 Rubicon deluxe for a really good price. Took about a month or two before I found something that I considered was worth the money they were asking.

This. Price seams a bit low but I like where your head's at. Get two for cheap and part one out to build up one "new" bike.

The above is a 100% true story. One is a 99 Kawasaki prairie 400 and the other an 02 Honda Foreman 450ES. Both run great. I had to do a ton of carb work on the Prairie but finally have it running good. The Honda needed a valve adjustment that I did and I put new tires and seat cover on it. Other than that, just basic fluid changes. When he told me about them I didn't really think he would sell them for 200.00 total, but he said he was tired of looking at them and wanted them gone. So, I obliged him and took them off his hands. I'll never find a deal like that again in my life.
To the OP. Good luck with the search. I tend to agree with the other posters who said this is the worst possible time to look for a used one. With the supply chain shortages and it being right before hunting season, can't imagine there are many people out there looking to sell a used one at the moment.

Beware of the Armour All shiny plastic. There is a flipper who sells, way out in the marsh around the old Tin Lizzys bar. Everything i looked at was junk. Looked at one in crossroads, Ms. Big time broken junk. Finally bought new. King Quad 400 4x4.

And don't be afraid of no title. You can get any deputy at the diner to run the vin for a 29 check . Bikes are not street legal so the title is a money handout . Titles are used to get a license plate. Its not street legal so no need for a plate.
I would ask the seller for his invoice where he bought it. Make sure its not about to be repossessed by loan institute
