It's a minor update, but the time has come to replace the branding on my boat. These are the originals from 1997.

This is what they are sending me...

I'm really excited I found this company since Champion Boats went out of business in 2010. This graphics company has the replacements for all major brands of boats and quite a few odd balls as well. Maybe you didn't realize you needed something like this, but if you do, hit up Iguana Grafix and they can fix you up.

No ordering on-line, they want to get exactly what you need so they walk you through the whole process via email or phone and give you your options like domed vs. flat, color choices, size, etc. to make sure you are happy.

Good company and a pleasure to do business with.

For you viewing pleasure...

Damn those came out pretty nice. The anti-glitter boys will be here shortly though. Good luck.

I'm on the fence, but wanting this style to replace the basic black numbers I've had on the boat for years as pictured above.

Love Iguana Graphics. They have done some great decals/numbers for past boats. Not really a fan of those above. Champion Font and Ranger are my favorites. I hate Basscat even though that's what I have.

I'm emailing with him back and fourth and he talked me into the Champion original font.

Seeing this brings back memories. I had a champion back in the 90’s. It was one of the best boats I’ve ever owned.

Was going to suggest the champion font for your registration numbers. I'd like the continuity. Is that an option?

There's zero doubt in my mind I would have bought one last year if still made. Charger really wasn't an option.

I bought mine 3 months old/used in the summer of 1997. A guy had purchased it and traded it in for a bigger one after fishing in it that first spring.

It was all original, fished hard for a long time. 3 years ago, I got serious about bringing it back. Since then I put in...

New carpet
New seats
Lowrance Ti Elite 9"
Gorilla Hull
New set of windsheilds
Had the gel coat restored
And I'm sure a few other things...

When I took it to Toledo Fiberglass the guy tapped all over it and focused a lot on the transom with a brass butt of a knife. He turned around when he was done and said "This boat never sits in the water does it?"

I said, "No, it sits in a dark barn 325 days a year."

He complimented it and said more people stop and ask if a Champion sitting outside is for sale than any other boat they work on.

Best I have on my computer at work... Before the carpet change.

They all do. Especially with power poles, pumps and extra batteries. My buddy that has a 193 Elite decked out with all that has 2 soccer balls in the jack plate that help pick it up and prevent backwash when coming off plane.

Champion deleted the splash wells some time around 2000 and that made it more of an issue in my opinion.

Mine will take in a little water, but mine has a splash well that drains it off.

tap on it with a brass end of a knife. It should be solid. If it hollow, throated or deeper sounding then other areas you have an issue with the transom.

You can see the water line on the jack plate of how high/low it sits.

I got it padded and you can see the live well and storage doors stuck up a little when new.

A couple of fishing trips with a buddy standing on them in the back and it all sits flush now.

If anybody is looking for domed letters, I got mine from 3dltrg, looks like the go by boatslettering.com now. Great letters at a great price. They look so much better than what most people throw on their boats. I can't imagine buying a $50k+ boat and throwing hardware store letters on it.

Guilty. I have an excuse though.

The original owner was from Arkansas. I bought it near Mountain Home near where they were made.

I had to put LA numbers on it and the plain black hardware store special was the quick fix at the time.

I have been by there quite a few times there at Lake Fork in the first post. I try to fish Lake Tawakoni and Lake Fork a handful of times a year.

Nice looking boat.

Champions I owned 16 mean when Jeff Riggins the champion rep back then now with an aluminum boat company pushed those I bought one. That was a fun boat.

I owned 5 going back to 1992 time period.

I heard they were going down hill in the late 90's or early 2000's.

I’ve seen one with a 150 that would fly.

Mine is a 171 with a 115.

The line of boats they made is pretty incredible.

Mean 16
168
171
181
187
193
203
206
210
221
223 (the aircraft carrier)
Fish and skis
Speed boat top caps
Bass and bay
Bay champs
Sea Champs

I joined a Champion owners Facebook group that has been so educational and helpful. Some of the people that worked for Champion are in the group and it’s incredible to have some insight into it all and see all the different models. Hidden gem barn finds, full restorations, transom replacements, etc. With good info about fair pricing.
