UPDATE:

Picked it up today. Can't wait to run some rounds thru it tomorrow at the range!

You bastards are gonna break me, I swear!

Found a Shield 9 Performance Center M2.0 for $499 at Gunprime.com. Comes as an "EDC Pack" with a folding knife, flashlight and a small carrying case. If you wish to order, the picture on Gunprime's link is incorrect. It shows a Shield 4" model
(I didn't even know those existed. Guess they compete with the P365XL?). I called and spoke with them to confirm it is indeed the Shield 9 Performance Center ported model with the 3.1" barrel.

P.S. I highly recommend Gunprime if you're looking to buy online. Their customer service it top notch and they ship FAST! I ordered this at 9-ish am this morning and just got an email saying it will be shipped today with my tracking number.

They’re selling spikes stripped lowers for $180. Think I’ll pass.

I bought the exact same one local last week for a little more than that but I'd rather keep my money in the hood.
Bad arse little gun but I already have a new trigger and thumb safety lever on the way. had cervical fusion surgery 8 weeks ago and my hand is still weak AF
Having to learn to shoot left handed.

ETA: I bought mine after seeing it on here too. Had to go "just play with one" and bought it on the spot.

How does the shiel compare to Glock 43 when shooting? Is it a wrist snapper? I’ve got bad arthritis....

Personally, I like shooting my Should better than the G43. I don't think it is less "snappy" really. I just have a better grip on the Shield. I have to re-grip after almost every shot on the Glock as it feels like it is gonna jump out of my hand for some reason.

Idk, that's just my opinion though. The Shield is a great value though. I love mine.

Look at the performance center version that the OP posted.
It has ported slide and barrel in a single stack. Easy for weak hands, like mine, to grip

Good price. Palmetto State has a "TACPAC" combo for $549 right now which seemed like a good deal to me but I got the email about it after I ordered the Shield this morning. Plus I already have a Gen1 Shield and love the fit in my hand so I'll stick with the Smith. Included standard are XRAY3 Day/Night sights, and this limited-edition TACPAC includes 3- 12 Round Magazines and an IWB/OWB holster.

I've held a 43 once at a gun show and with it's short grip I can see why it's snappy. I haven't shot one to be able to tell you how it would compare to the Shield. However the longer grip of the Shield (even more if you use the extended mag) can help with that. I'd also imagine the ported version I'm getting will provide added help in that aspect as well. The Shield is also 3ozs heavier and although a little less than a 1/4" shorter, all those factors combined - on paper - seem like it should be a less snappy gun, to me at least.

Prices on everything are jacked up with the gun and ammo buying frenzy the nation is in right now, my friend. You should normally be able to walk into any local gun store nationwide and get a Shield 9 for no more than $400+tax.

It's a shame, but it's the times we live in.

Openings cut near the end of the barrel and slide that allow combustion gas to escape before exiting the end of the barrel which is a large part of felt-recoil. This helps to decrease muzzle rise.

Read this article...

The Glock 19C’s ported barrel produced at least 30 percent less muzzle rise than the standard barrel. That’s impressive performance for such small ports. Part of this is from the reduced velocity, but the greatest effect is from the vented gas force. How effectively ports work depends on their number, size and location.

So another 150.00 for a flashlight, knife and bag? Am I missing something?
