Anyone go out and have any luck this year? I'll be heading out next weekend for the last weekend of the season where I'm at.

Spring turkey season is my favorite time of year

Made one hunt last Saturday thinking if the turkeys didn’t play, I’d chase squirrels. They didn’t wanna play either.

It was a decent season for me. It started out rough. We bumped birds off the roost while headed to some that were gobbling. Wasted a couple hours before we found out the neighbor decided to start raising turkeys.

Had a missed opportunity in Louisiana due to another hunter. That was the only hunt I made out there, and it was pretty windy day.

Also went to OK and had some fun, but there were a ton of people and we spent too much time chasing a group of gobblers that didn’t want to cooperate.

Ended up with two for the season. The second one was on my last hunt at the last spot I was checking before heading back home. It was the perfect way to end the season.

We used to have a family cabin on a couple hundred acres. Unfortunately the upkeep became to much for my uncle so it got sold to the county who now rents out the cabin and the land is now public hunting. My friends and I had the turkeys patterned out perfectly. Knew exactly how to hunt them. It's been a few years and I'll be curious how screwed up they'll be after becoming public hunting land

Hunted on the new lease I got on this year. No other members hunt and my son and I had run of the place.
Set up on turkeys roosted three times in a row and missed a couple of good chances (son can't make a spit decision in crunch time). Ended up killing a turkey, but I screwed a big boy up on the last day. He eyeballed me and I tried a shot too far with the new TSS shells.

All in all - a great season full of action.

Killed in AL, TX and NE.

Battled a ghost in South Dakota for day n half. It got inside of 75 yards twice, gobbled many times; but I never saw it.

Hindsight shows I should have pursued for an ambush on the last encounter instead of waiting.

I didn't do anything. Only hunted once and wasn't too serious about it then.

My son had a pretty great season.

Got a rio in TX, eastern in MS, and a hybrid in OK. He was trying to get a merriam, but they could get those to cooperate.

It was a really nice season this year. We really had a lot of birds on our place this year. I quit loading my gun for turkeys about three or four years ago.

I called in 12 this year (some were likely duplicates), got some great pictures of them in close. Helped little hammer get his first limit of three this year and just enjoyed the season immensely.

May look to hit the road with little hammer next year to help him start on his first grand slam but not sure we just enjoy hunting together on our place in MS and he isn't begging. I'm curious how many of the places I killed birds on OOS are still good from 20-30 years ago.. I think it would be fun to retrace my many road trips of my younger days with him. Time will tell
