Trying to help my dad price his old tractor to sell

My dad has finally given up fixing our old tractor. It is a 1983 or 84 John Deere 650 17hp, it isn't in the best shape. It recently began running hot and my dad has tried all the simple fixes to remedy the problem, but no luck. So he bought a Kubota to replace the old John Deere on Tuesday.
He originally wanted to give the John Deere away but I convinced him he could atleast get something for it. I just can't find a good place to price the tractor, it is in rough shape but runs.
So what says the OB, how much is a 1983 or 84 John Deere 650 that runs hot and probably needs a new clutch too, worth?

Not much I wouldn't think. At that point things like condition of the tires/hoses/everything else come into play. Just pulling a number outta my arse, $1000 asking price?

Tractorhouse
Here's what ones in good share are going for.
Does it have a belly mower? If so, you should be able to get $1000 for it.
Or find a shade tree mechanic to diagnose it and give you a quote to fix it. It might not be that expensive to repair, and would be easier to sell.
Whatever you do, DON'T give it away! You could always sell it as a parts tractor.
Edit to add: Check out this rough tractor that supposedly "runs great:"
