EDIT: He is also not an Alabama resident so he can't get a permit there. And I'm assuming he doesn't have the time/money/patience/age to get a permit here.

Carry at your own risks! It's kinda like an old black man I used to work with at Ethyl Corp told me one day. I asked him, " Brooks, aren't you afraid the police will catch you with that pistol stuck in your pants?" His reply was "I'd rather the cops catch me with it than those punks catch me without it!"

I will prob just do as i already stated. Lock it in its case unloaded with luggage and drive on through. If i get pulled over and asks i will be close to the law if not 100% compliant. I will however be getting my MS cc permit so I dont have to worry about this mess.

Thanks for the input guys

Like i said. Nobody has a hit out on me but i have walked three miles late at night with nothing to protect me put a fuse tester with a point. I got a little more to protect now and i intend to do so legally. Just dont want to end up in jail over a bullshite handgun technicality and Barney Fife trying to get elected sheriff.

Should be able to find your answers here:
LINK

If not, you could google the laws for each different state you'll be travelling in. I believe the above site has links of handgun laws to all the states.

Hope you have a nice (and SAFE) trip!

Yep -- handgunlaw.us is the "definitive site for up-to-date CCW laws and rules.

As was mentioned earlier, the open-carry site also has most of the same info. But there is so much immature, misguided garbage on that site, I'd be wary having the CCW facts contaminated.
