Just a muskrat and some grinners. Pics of stuff in drowner sets are to boring to mess with. Found cat tracks right where i marked last night but ran out of light.

this thread had inspired me to try and put out my traps again. only thing I had ever caught was a possum. poor thing had to endure being caught in the trap and having the hawks eat him alive.

I'm pretty sure foxes that are pets aren't foxes caught in the wild and trained. They are breed in Russia and come from years of selective breeding

I was about 95% sure that pole smoker was trolling. 0% chance I'm catching any wild animal and letting it live around my family.

I'd love to see someone catch an adult fox and just let it loose in their house.

Angus possums are the reason I stopped using bait years ago. In the south a predator rarely have empty bellies. I use gland lures 100% of the time.

a tutorial thread on trapping.
that was really my goal in this thread it just hasn't worked out the way I hoped yet. I wanted to take pics of the set up and the surrounding area and the catch to get more people interested and more steel in the ground. And just really want to thank Ya'll for your contributions cause as long as there is any any interest in this I will keep updating

One guy had a coyote in his house. He said it was bad and wouldn't recommend it. The guys say the foxes are very smart.

I haven't really had a problem till I started using a bait a week ago that was lets just say smoked. Its's slightly tainted bobcat but it has a smokey essence. I don't want to call the name and say its bad til i know for sure but it sure has changed things. I won't be buying anymore though.

I still use bait but won't use tainted bait anymore. Mine gets ground then fixed. 1 possum to 9a yotes in footholds. Dps and buckets have been the only way i catch them.

Still just three sets out but I have to go scout some property this afternoon so maybe I will get some more out. Pretty good morning though considering 1 grey and a coon ain't too bad

This is the third fox out of this same set. This same place produced good last year. There is an electric fence on both sides of the gate with a low wire. I open the gates enough for a critter to go through and place my trap.

Wow, this thread brings me back. My buddy and I trapped all through high school and college. We mainly targeted coons but did have a couple of lines for terrestrial predators. Our best bait was a can of jack mackerel(the cheapest crap we could buy) or sometimes fish guts from the fish market down the road. We would mix this with honey to make it sticky and put it in a coffee can. We would stake our traps in about 4 to 6" of water in between two roots of a tree where they formed a v with the trunk. Then we would smear a bit of the bait up the side of the tree. Worked wonders but smelled horrible. We had a thick rubber glove that we used just for the bait. Sold the hides to a dealer and the meat to others.

We used drags and mostly scented lures on cotton balls for the land sets.

The first coon I ever caught in a foothold was just off the bank with a sardine laid on the trigger. I haven't tried that set in many years but i think i might put one or 2 out
