I like my FN45, mainly because it's a 15+1. In 9mm and .40 I think you have better choices.

ETA:
Just know that FN will rape you on mag prices.

Which fits right into the "number or rounds" vs "power of each round" debate.

Muzzle energy =/= stopping power.

Stopping power is an arbitrary and made up term.

True stopping power comes from the barrel of a rifle or shotgun, not a pistol.

If the truck is in motion, I would call that "moving power." Imagine standing in front of one going 60 mph... you would be splattered on the grill and moving pretty quickly.

Meh

Point I was trying to make is that if you REALLY need to put somebody out RIGHT NOW, guns ain't all that good. We all own 6000 pound battering rams.

Correct. How many deer die instantly when shot. Not a big percentage. They may not go far, but normally take a few steps. If they were armed that would be enough to return fire

On the other hand, deer hit by cars stop instantly.

Go to google images to prove that hypothesis.

Even when they drop like a sack of shite they almost always at least kick or flop a little or something.

And then I shoot them again

140 grains of lead at 2600 fps ain't got shite on 6000lbs of steel at 50mph

CZ 75B.

40 SW or 9mm.

All steel. I love mine. Heavy to hold but smooth to shoot due to weight.

People make a mistake of getting women smaller pistols sometimes. But depending on size and caliber they only feel better to HOLD. I shot a buddy's .380 LCP and that bastard comes ALIVE in your hand. I feel the wrist nap from recoil scares a shooter more than weight to hold weapon. AFTER you fire it. Hard for some fisrt time shooters to wrap their heads around that.

FIFY

That's a different topic in itself though.

A heavy gun is only bad if you plan to carry it every day.

Starting to look at xdm 9mm. Any real advantage the m&p has over this one?

Ergonomics, better made, basically everything. XD's are vastly overrated IMO.

As far as polymer guns go, other than the hk, the m&p has the best ergonomics.

Chad, if you decide on the xdm40, I may have one for sale. Less than 100 rounds shot through it.

Absolutely. OP said "home" though.

Other thing to consider with a Springfield is difficulty to load and pull slide to chamber a bullet. Mine was a BITCH!! It was an XD though. Not an "M". and about 7 years old. Their newer weapons may be easier to handle. Mine was MEAN.

Even caught the skin between my thumb and index finger caught in the ejection port. Essentially "stove-pipe" jammed my hand. It was a soundless scream of pain.

Nothing I could do about it either. Just pulling your hand out would pinch worse. Just had to stop laughing and crying from the pain and my stupidity and force back the slide.
