The auto handles recoil better. The pumps and o/u allow you to use shells with less recoil that would not cycle in an auto...

The reason for O/U for kids would be the ability to know the gun is unloaded at a distance. (thanks wick)

The Benelli Cordoba is the finest 20ga semi auto on the market.

You will never want to use anything else on a dove field.

I personally like a pump better for wing shooting. I tend to be more patient with my shot and not try to shoot 3 shells as fast as I can. That's just me though. With that said - you can't beat a 20ga Wingmaster.
