Well the podnuhs and myself are headed to the Bend in the AM for a fishing trip again. Not looking for much just the secret bait to get all 4 of us on the camera at Toledo Tackle joining the 10 pound plus club. I have more drop shot weights and finesse worms than I ever dreamed as well as the whopper plopper and every color of red worm available. Feel free to share your go to bait.

I'd be fishing for white perch.
Are people still saying this? I heard that back in the spring. Threw red bug and tomato seed, but only caught a couple. Went back to old faithful watermelon colors and started catching more.
Could be chalked up to how much faith I have in watermelon, but I gave the red colors a couple hours each day my first few trips with little success.

Same here. My dad is stuck on the ole red plum worm at Toledo. I throw Watermelon seed and out catch him every time.

shite, my last trip I caught more on junebug ole monsters than red or watermelon. My brother caught some on black as well. I am trying hard to talk myself out of heading up there tomorrow and just leaving the boat there for my trip back next week.

The perch pics have really increased lately.

I don't know why I own any other colors. Junebug, watermelon, and black and blue are pretty much all I ever throw. Depends on time of year and water conditions.

I have had about enough of chasing those finicky little bastards.

I throw three color plastics only
Watermelon red
Junebug
Black&red glitter
ETA: However, for some unknown reason, I have 757 different colors in my tackle box

I just went and bought every rattle trap in a certain color that academy and field and stream had on the shelf. Don't go looking for it.

I'm a firm believer that there are only really four colors, and everything else is an accent.
Watermelon - clear water, sunny
Green Pumpkin/ Brown - anything
Black-Blue/Junebug - muddy water, deep, or night
White/Shad - targeting schooling fish or shad spawn
I'll add chartreuse or orange dye if there are bluegill or goggle eye around. If the crawfish have turned a certain color then I'll try to grab a jig that has a few strands of that color. 90% of the time if I can't catch on green pumpkin then it's me not the color.

I swear if you simply finished a worm or jig every day you go out fishing for a year, and never changed to any other lure, you would have a btter year than doing what you normally do by switching between worms/jig/spinner/frogs/buzzpaits/cranks/etc etc

Absolutely. I don't know how many times I've had that same conversation with people. That's why you see me throw the same baits all the time. I don't know how many times one of my buddies looked at me while fishing and said "that damn green worm!"
