As far as lanan our spots have been a creek just to the right after you go under the big 1215 bridge, the buggy whips way in the back past the 191 bridge, and the main creek way way way back in lanan. All three spots have produced with the buggy whips being our best spot by far in both size and numbers.
Today my only two good fish came out of the whips on a craw tube.
The other dinks came on a crawfish colored crank bait on some main points in San Miguel. Like others have said, it was tough fishing. I did not get a single bite on a wacky senko, weightless fluke, or a shaky head trick worm. I still have a hard time believing I did not get a bite on those three baits.
My dad's lone fish came on a whopper plopper when we were near some topwater busting that lasted about 6 seconds.
Still not sure where we're going tomorrow but I hope the bite turns on.

Fishing was hard today. I didn't catch my first keeper until 11. Ended with 8. Fish. Senkos today and brush hogs in 3-12 foot

Care to elaborate?
Up shallow in the bushes? I also heard they were stacking under bridges around Lanan...

Well our trip is finished.
We had planned on fishing today but after 2 hours this morning of 39 degrees, 12+ mph winds, and no bites, we said F it and left.
I may have met your dad at the launch this morning. Was he fishing with other people and put in at the state park ramp?
Anyways, here's a few pics. First up, the famed buggy whips. I fish the Rez a lot and these things are bass magnets there. Pretty much the only reason I motored for 10 minutes through a stump field that broke my transducer mount to get to them.
Here's a few of the spoils.
Pops' 3-12
The weapons that worked.
The rat bastards that didn't.
And finally, an action shot of a cinnamon teal.

You may have. He's with a little group. The rest are bass fishing, he's perch jerking solo. Of course you'll say nothing about lsuballs to him.

Your dad caught those in San Miguel?

Looks like they were in Lanan.

Doc, great updates on your trip. Really appreciate the information and know exactly where your photo was taken; I've fished there plenty. Can't wait to see if they are still there next week.

Fresh water fillet mignon... wow those are nice!

There's still a giant in there that my dad missed at the boat (wrapped him around the motor). Also, there are a ton of beds all along that stretch of whips. If they move back up, you can catch a lot of bucks.
