Man you need to wear lighter shoes or something. That's horrible for a tacoma. My green truck gets 16 on the interstate.

Get an auxiliary fuel tank or a bigger one if you are that concerned about mileage per tank

4x4? The manual transmission is shite for mileage as well, but yea the roof rack can't be good for mileage. I don't think I ever got 16 though.

Are you constantly drag racing?

I let my BIL drive the other day and was shocked how gentle he was on the gas pedal. Taking off in second, keeping the rpms low before shifting...I was getting antsy. I drive the damn thing.

I bought a 5 gal Scepter can, but I wasn't planning on putting gas in it until we hit the trails.

30 - 40 psi won't make a huge difference in mpg. It has more to do with rolling resistance. The more aggressive the tire the more resistance resulting in decreased mpg. If your going to run all terrains or mud terrains you have to accept that your mpg will decrease. Getting your truck tuned would help.

Yes, mine have been 4x4s. They were automatics though. I also drive like a grandpa so that helps

My wife drove mine for a couple of days and managed to get 15

Well the primary influence on fuel economy is your right foot. If you're not babying for fuel mileage, I doubt you see any difference between 20psi and 50psi.

running 30 psi in my BFG Km2

I run 50 in mine. Discount Tire guy told me that was a good psi to save tread wear over a lower psi. I don't know if that is a load of BS or not but being the guy that sold me them said it and me coming in to buy more tires keeps him in a job, I figured it could be legit. 50 does make me go to the chiro more so there is that. Could be a scam.

That will increase once you get over 10K miles on it.

My old Dodge went from 18 to 22 once I hit that 10K.

Check them the way hammer described earlier in the thread. That's the easiest way to check.
