I watched the latest episode of Righteous Gemstones last night and there is a scene where Steve Zahn's character picks up a "diamondback rattlesnake" to terrorize the Gemstone kids with.
I noticed that the body of this rattlesnake looked like the body of a rat snake. I guess they cgi'd a diamondback head onto the body of a rat snake? What say you TigggrDad?

Pretty sure they had a live rattle snake in the box to start then switched on the pickup. I’d have to go back and watch it again.
I’d say bull/gopher snake is what he was waving around but it’s hard to tell with the head all fricked up

I like that show, but this season has been a bust. Pretty slow.
This episode you're talking about I was like, "Finally, something is happening with this kidnapping" only for them to escape by the end of the episode. They could have held them for another episode and build up whatever happens.
As to the snake, I assumed it was all digital.

I think that this season has been absolutely hilarious. Not enough Baby Billy, but I have laughed a lot.

You are exactly right. The pattern switches right around his hand. Apparently it’s easier to film using a rat snake then cgi a rattlesnake on the front end as opposed to cgi’ing an entire rattlesnake where there is none.
