On Wednesday of next week (April 28), the House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice will review and vote on as many as eight gun bills, six of which are Pro 2A and two of which Are Anti Gun. It would be very helpful if everyone wrote a single email by this weekend to:

( H-ACRJ@legis.la.gov )

asking the members of the committee to support our Louisiana Constitutional rights. This is not a privilege like driving an automobile. It is a fundamental RIGHT. The staff will receive the email and enter it into the record and then forward it to each member of the Committee, so it is unnecessary to send it to each member.

Make it simple and brief:
example:

Dear Representatives:

Please support my Louisiana Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms as guaranteed in Article I § 11, by voting FOR the following bills (CHP=Concealed Handgun Permit):

· HB16 by Rep. McCormick Constitutional Carry

· HB48 by Rep. Miguez
Expands approved training sources for CHP

· HB118 by Rep. Frieman
Makes Louisiana a 2A Sanctuary State

· HB124 by Re. Hollis
Allows CHP holder to carry other weapons

· HB596 by Rep. Fontenot
Allows CHP after 1hr. free training by the state

And oppose the following bills:

· HB326 by Rep. Phelps
creates new Juvenile Crime: “in possession”

· HB353 by Rep. Landry
requires background check for private sales

Thank you,
(name)

=============================
update:

Please email the Republican House Members and ask them to vote "no" on HB55 day after tomorrow on the House Floor. You might just give them a one line plea:

Dear Representative,

HB55 reduces the requirements for getting a restraining order, allowing anyone to easily request one without verifying by Notary who they are. Please vote "no" on HB55.

Thank you,

email list in new post

What is the problem with HB326 ?

As I read it, the bill provides that it will be unlawful for a juvenile who has been placed on probation or parole
to possess a firearm or carry a concealed weapon while on probation or parole.

This is all being oraganized by some friends fellow range officers and some gun shops and CHP instructors.

Firearm Professionals of Louisiana

They will NEVER ask for money...only your activism/time you are willing to give.

be it emailing your representatives or Calling them.

If you feel you'd like to do more. (no money involved)we organize carpools to and from the capitol in Baton Rouge on committee days for a show of force to make our voices the dominate one.

Also, next Wednesday (April 28) we are organizing a trip to the capitol in Baton Rouge to physically show (in our purple shirts) our support of these fundamental, constitutionally guaranteed rights.

We need to be on the House side where the Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice will meet. You can ask any guard where that is.

The committee meeting doors open at 8:30, but we need to be there at 8 to fill out the green (FOR) and red (AGAINST) cards which will be seen and heard by all members of the committee, as well as insure that we get a seat in the room.

Thanks to the generosity of Brian LeBourgeois, Margaret Harrison and the St. Bernard Shooting Center, we will be raffling off nine (9) Western Style Revolvers and ten (10) LaserTac lasers – a total of 19 prizes!

To be eligible for the raffle, you must be there before 8:30, and sit with us in committee in a red or purple shirt. They will have a few extra purple shirts available for loan.

Those of you in the Covington/Mandeville area who are interested in car pooling should meet in the Office Depot parking lot, near I-HOP Restaurant at 6:15AM.

We will organize the pools and depart at 6:30 sharp.

Folks in Slidell may want to organize a pool leaving from somewhere in Slidell.

If you want to get the word out about your interest in a Slidell car pool, write Chris Patron at the FPoLA website.
If no such carpool materializes, Slidellians are welcome to join us at I-HOP (Office Depot) parking in Mandeville.

Those of you west of Mandeville, who may wish to car pool are invited to make your wishes known to Chris Patron and he will assist in organizing a car pool.

We think a Hammond carpool should happen.
Same for Walker/Denham Springs. Call/write Chris

And one last request:

We’ve had some great scheduling help from Rep. Ted James, Chairman, and Rep. Tony Bacala, Vice-Chairman, again this year, and we want to thank them for their good work.

To do this, you can send an email to H-ACRJ@legis.la.gov

Subject: Thank You, Chairman James and Vice-Chair Bacala

All this week a radio ad was run on the Jeff Crouere show on WGSO AM 990 expressing our thanks. We thank you very much for your fine scheduling help.

As you can see, there are many reasons for you to get active and help defend our Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Removes the requirement that the handgun be possessed on the offender's person in order
for the crime of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile{probationed or Paroled) to apply.

currently the law states the handgun must be on his/her person...

this would change that to include if the juvenile was driving(example) his fathers car and the father accidentally left his handgun in the console.

the juvenile would be charged with possession through no fault of his own.

Now we all know that the prior criminal juvenile may have had something to do with that gun in the console, but maybe he didn't.

like it or not...This changes/undermines our law of what is considered possession and can/will open further degradation of all of our rights

It also removes the requirement that the handgun be possessed on the offender’s person in order for the offense to apply. Seems absurd for a “possession” statute.

I left that one off my email.

So why not ask that the bill be amended, instead of
trying to kill the bill ?

Sound like there's more to the story.

Gov. Edwards to veto constitutional carry bill if passed.

I can hear the collective sigh of relief from permit instructors around the state.

Can the LA assembly not override his veto???

Doesn't LA have a republican supermajority?
