I dont really have any history with this deer, however he showed back up after disappearing for nearly a month. But now he looks rugged and beat up. I also thought this pic showed how big and mature he was. Just really wanted to share to the OB the quality of the pic and coolness of this buck.

i have nearly 50 cams in West Tennessee and right after Dec 20th we went from 100's of pics a day to dozens of pics a day. Its like they all found a girlfriend and went on a honeymoon somewhere else. Crazy how it happened in a 2500 acre patch.

He is a hoss. Looking beat up because he has been roaming about slaying doe pussy for a couple of weeks.

I have one we call peg. He is missing the bottom portion of this foot. The hide has receded up the bone and appears (on camera) to have healed. He walks around on the bone that sticks out. How he didnt get an infection strong enough to kill him is a mystery. It looks like someone has been walking around with a cane in the mud.

Had intended to shoot him to put him out of his misery but he seems perfectly healthy now. Its amazing how tough they are.

You have a camera for every 50 acres? How often do you run them? Or, are they all cellular? I can't imagine how much you would stir the deer up going into every 50 acres.

While I generally agree, we used to have a doe on our property that had a notch clipped out of one of her ears. She would come to a trough feeder ever night and would bring her new fawns every year. We had pics of her for years but never once saw her in the daytime. We would scope every doe just trying to see her. Never did. She must have evidentially died of old age but it was cool to watch a doe over years, knowing it was the same one, and see how many fawns she raised.

She was naturally called "Notch-ear doe"

We had one we called Tripod. Lost lower part of his leg but was an older buck with a decent rack for our west Texas lease.

Bow hunting, he winded me a couple times and could move with the best of them. We had a gentlemen's agreement that no one would shoot him just to see how well he survived. Made it a couple more years and then disappeared.

Coincides with when we ran off an outlaw that year. Could never prove it but would bet that arsehole killed him. He had a bow stand not too far from mine.

It was cool watching him though.
