Thoughts on discing food plots now and not planting until end of September

Topic kind of says it all.
I will be unavailable until September 28 after this weekend. Due to that the idea of going ahead and discing food plots this weekend to have them mostly prepared for planting has crossed my mind. I would just come back and spray on the 28th with the goal to plant around the 5th of October.
Any downside to chopping and discing this early and just letting it sit?

Youll be fine. I'm going to cut and disk next weekend but don't plan on planting until last weekend in september or first weekend in October. I'm gonna run the disc over it again before I plant. It's how we do it every year.

Why not spray now and disc on 9/28?

That’s what I plan to do. Spray this weekend and disc whenever I can in mid to late october

Historically I’ve dealt with a good bit of weeds in the plots after discing. It seems to turn over a lot of dormant weed seeds.
My thought was if I cut short and chopped good, I’d kill the current growth. Then those weed seeds would emerge and grow for a bit, before I sprayed them a few weeks later.

I get that, I'm just offering a alternative with the limitation of time you have.
I'm limited on my time this year myself so who know what I will be able to do. I may just disc, plant and fertilize and my deer will get their choice of what I plant and the weed seed bank.

I’m no expert and the OB by far gives the best advice
