I have a 2016 Polaris 450 that's just over a year old. I'll gladly sell it to you super cheap and deliver it with a full tank of gas and a case of beer. There's not enough room for me to type how much of a piece of $hit it is. Dead serious. I will never own Polaris again.
^^ This right here! Most people I know that have had a Polaris have hated them. If I were you, I would go with a Honda. I've never had any problem with Honda.

I did a lot of research a couple years ago when I was shopping for four wheeler. I seriously looked at the polaris too because of the price.
What I found out is its a very good atv but not really suited for a place like Louisiana with all the water, swamps mud etc. because its belt driven. The belt doesn't hold up well when constantly subjected to being wet and you will have to be replacing it often.
I also learned its a region thing with four wheelers. For example polaris is very popular out west. Everyone down here likes hondas but up north people don't like them because they don't run well in the extreme cold.
I'd go with one of the Japanese bikes. They're all well made. Spend a little extra for one of them and you won't regret it.

I'm mid 700s and only got 3.99 for 66 through Neighbors. And they kick most places asses on rates.

The prices I wrote on here yesterday is all cash prices. Two of my friends have already picked there's up a week ago.

This is exactly right. A buddy of mine that I duck hunt with had one. One morning we were putting decoys out in the rice field with his Polaris. The belt kept slipping and we had to leave it in the rice field for our hunt.

....sometimes I really hate this place.
Honda reliability has been a downward trend since 99, it has taken a nosedive since 2014. Call it like it is. They are built to a price point.
Yamaha has posted the #1 reliability scores for 4 or 5 years running.
I just sold my 07 grizzly with over 5000 miles. Only thing evwr changed is oil and filters. Sold my rhino last year, 786 hours on it. Odometer had over 8000 miles. It was more than that given tbat the bike was on 28s day one.
My last honda product was their small inverters which are well made. But I demod a new pioneer 1000 and Rubicon before buying another yamaha this year. I was not impressed with either one.
And now their 1000s are having tons of transmission issues and grenading clutch packs.
Keep drinking the Honda koolaid.
There's a reason their sales have declined to 2nd and they continue to fall.

One thing y'all need to understand about belt drives, if you get to the point where you have water in yoir belt housing, you have ingested water into the motor.
Admittedly the Polaris belt system is a poor design that demands you ride it hard to extend belt life, but if you accept it, their belts last forever.
I personally prefer the yamaha belt drive over anything, but the same rule applies, if you get to the point where your air intakes are under water, you will have slipping issues.
Of course at that point you shouldnt be running the bike anyways ad you will have water in your airbox as well.
ETA: in all honesty, I do not currently own any belt drive bikes. My yamaha side by aide is a 5 speed.

By using this theory then the only bike on the market that's suitable for south La is honda? Kawasaki, yamaha, polaris all have belt drive systems on their machines and the complaints about them always puzzle me. If your belt gets wet you have a problem, investigate and fix it obviously a leak in the belt cover gasket. Continue to let it get wet? Then yea it will fail.
Polaris always gets a bad wrap and I have absolutely no experience with the 450 but I trust rando's analysis of it. I think majority nay saying comes from lack of maintenance on these machines, my whole family has run polaris for years without any severe problems. Some machines have had their quirks but every manufacturer will.
Currently have a 700,850xp,800rzr all with over 2000 HARD miles on them and still run great, but have been thoroughly maintained. Also have dozens of 570 and 900s that ride with us as well

Not arguing! Everyone has there own preference. I've always had a Honda and I've never had a single issue with any of them.

I never have liked the Rubicon. I've always gotten the 4x4 Rancher. My dad has the Rubicon, and I just don't care for it.

I've put over 3500 miles on my yamaha side by side since march... Of this year
If I were buying a big bore utility side by side, I'd buy a Polaris.
Buying a 4 wheeler, yamaha 700 class is the most reliable thing made.
Building a trail bike with tons of engine work and mods... Brute force. Four stroke techs 917 kits are insane.
A kids trx90 is the only time you should buy honda ATV/SXS. Possible exception being their pioneer 500. It's an underpowered slow turd, but it is narrow enough to be useful.

I had a sportsman 500 10 years ago. Bought it brand new and it NEVER ran right. Go through a creek.. the drive would slip. The carb literally cracked in half.
I believe you. But I'd have loved to have seen that bike. An unreliable 500 Polaris is a damned unicorn. That was their 300 honda
I actually had an unreliable 300 Honda. So weirder things have happened

I do know that you can get a better rate on a new bike at a bank than 6%. Most of what I've seen has been 4-4.5%. Wife is a loan officer and branch manager.

Must have been a unreliable owner. My 1990 Honda 300 Fourtrax is still rolling but good luck stopping it with the brakes

For A Tier credit, sure.
That looks like a promo rate for those with sub prime scores. 6 isn't high. 18 is high.
Ill take my 3.99.

It was a fluke. No idea why it was a POS. But it was
Y'all think I'm a yamaha fan boy. I own 7 Hondas and one yamaha
Wanna know how to permanently fix the brake issues and save your diff bearings?

lol very true. 6 is better than 18

Haven't seen anybody mention it here yet, but I have a 2017 Can-Am Outlander 570 and I absolutely love it. Just another option to check out.
