Brought my dog to the creek earlier and while walking around in the water I found this. I've found several on the internet that look the same. Also could just be a rock.

It has definitely been chipped on/at, but I don't see any design that says it would have been a knife, arrowhead or anything else. It may have been the tool they used to chip other rocks into shape.

Looks like ol boy trying to form an arrowhead or hatchet head, but got dealt with before he could finish it.

Here is one from the internet. I think y'all are over thinking knife. This rock was held in the hand to cut. It didn't have a handle or anything. Very primitive.

Was def worked. Could have been used for scraping or just a rough piece used to cut but not necessarily a knife that once had a handle.

Cool find though. Absolutely an artifact

It is definitely a worked tool or broken point. Not just a rock. Was probably a scraper or knife of some kind.

Those will slice the shite out of you too. They seem dull, but when you apply a little pressure and a saw motion, the microscopic millions of razor sharp daggers along the edge will open up your skin like jello.

I learned this one night at the UGA archaeology lab.

I live off Thompson Creek in East Feliciana. My uncle has prolly over 1000 pieces that he has found over the years from arrow heads to clay pipes. The area is know for its Indian artifacts.

Found a lot of cutting tools around the Catahoula Lake area. The ones we found were held in the palm of the hand, no handle. The shape and edge was a lot more refined than the piece you found. Having said that, the shape would probably vary with the age of the tool. My grandfathers pocket knife didn't look like the knives of today. It definitely looks like someone started forming an edge. But we found literally piles of partially made points and tools that broke wrong and were tossed.

Good find. Cutting tools come in all shapes. After a good rain you could probably find a few more.
