Yes, his food plots at max are usually 100 x 200 so the distance shots really aren’t that far.

yeah so he doesnt need to go crazy on the highest tech. Usually guys looking to do what I do id say go for a 640res $6k+ scope. more feeder hunters can get buy with anything they are willing to pay for but who wants to have a shitty image after dropping 3k. you better of getting the best you can afford than settling for 1k kess price tag because you will be buying again

Pulsar Thermion series. best cost to value ratio.

Trijicon is the top of the top, but you are gonna way bust your budget on most of those.

You feeder pig hunters need to check out the thermion Duo. 4k daytime digital scope with the XP 50 <25mK thermal. Deer hunt until dark then sit for feeder pigs at night. a little more than $4k but you can sell you daytime optic

I can vouch for Pulsar also. I have had the pleasure of shooting 3-4 different models. They are fantastic!

Pickle - couple of questions

1 - Are you able to switch guns with your Pulsar and not re-zero? Assuming that you have profiles saved for multiple rifles/bullet weights.

2 - Have you tried any of the AGM thermals? I'm in the market for a thermal to put on a suppressed 300 blk and max yardage for shooting would be 200 and less from a fixed position towards a feeder. I think I can accomplish that on the cheaper end, but also don't want to buy multiple scopes because I'm dissatisfied with image quality at that range either.

3 - What is your opinion on using thermals during daylight? If I wanted to deer hunt the evening until last light, then pig hunt after dark - is this feasible with the same optic? Or should I just suck it up and bring two different rifles.

AGM has 5 settings that can be for different range or guns.

subsonics in 300blk kill pigs at 100 yds max so low magnification is fine.

They work during the day.

1 - yes I have it on a QD mount that is a return to zero. Most thermals including pulsar have multiple zero profiles. Mine has 15

2 - we tried one a year ago and sent it back. The pip crosshair did not align with the main crosshair and AGM said it was normal. I wouldn't buy one. Youtube videos of each scope you want and see what it actually looks like.

2 - U will not want to shoot subs over 100yds. Less knock down power and tons of bullet drop outside 50-75yds. Just shoot 110vmax 300blk through a suppressor. Then you good out to 200. We never shoot subs (.223, 300 and 6.5 all supers through cans) "cheaper end" is a bad mindset when it comes to thermal imagery. Sure you can get it done. It's all about what you want it to look like. Everyone eventually wants more

3 - you can use them but the hotter the day the less distinct your image. The more humid/rain the more you environment is washed out. You can't see horns once the velvet is off. I wouldn't suggest it but it's possible. Suck it up an buy two

Just out of curiosity, what is your rifle setup for that kind of range?

I'm currently running a .223 (black gun above) aero precision hardware, 16" BSF barrel, fostec LM-BCG, CMC trigger. Shooting 5.56 75gr BTHP zeroed at 200yds

6.5G (FDE gun above) Aero precision hardware, 16 odin works barrel, JP LM-BCG, CMC trigger. shooting 123gr Hornady zeroed at 200yds

The .223 was for coyotes and the 6.5 for pigs but due to ammo prices we switched to the .223 for pigs. We did some ammo testing and with the right ammo the .223 is dropping pigs just as good as the 6.5G.

Started with the XQ50 Trail, agree with what the others have mentioned about too much zoom for scouting and close in shooting. It somehow came on in the gun scabbard in the truck on a hot day and something inside melted in front of the screen. Pulsar honored the warranty but I took advantage of the situation and upgraded to the XP50 Trail which I still have and has held up pretty good to my friends Thermions. I just ordered a backup battery this week.
