I've also heard rumors of this nonsense. Even been in debates about it. Modern age women don't want kids calling them ma'am. "Yes ma'am" is rude and the polite response would be "Yes" instead of "uhhuh".

Sounds like some liberal shite

I feel bad though because I don't respond with ma'am or sir often enough. I guess it wasn't ingrained in me enough when I was little

Yea, part of the whole "Kids should be treated as young adults" mentality. That mixed with some "all people are equal" mentality

It might actually go well. Ive talked to some women about it before and the only one who didnt see it the same was as me is a full blown extreme feminist.

I've encountered several women that didn't appreciate it. Had to explain that its a sign of respect, nothing more, nothing less. I've also been complimented on my step sons manners and how he has always used it with teachers and other adults. Don't think its a sign of the times, just a flashing warning sign pointing out liberal counts that you probably don't want teaching your kids

Somewhat of a hijack back to yankee talk, but I've been told by a friend from up north that women up north take offense to being called ma'am. Like saying yes ma'am is impolite or offensive. Said because it makes them feel old. What's up with that shite?

And by up north I mean like New England.

I had a lady from New Jersey ask me to stop saying "yes ma'am" to her on the phone. She was buying a house down here and getting some 'shonce on it. So I started saying "yes, bitch" instead.
