Peyman hopes his strong stand in support of the Second Amendment encourages law enforcement officers around Kentucky and elsewhere to reassure citizens of their protection from overzealous federal action on gun control.

"Just a few of us have to be willing to stand up to political opposition putting our people at risk," Peyman said. "The other side will back down."
Hope he realizes this ain't Texas Hold "em.

Sounds to me like he wants to be able to look back and feel like he was the leader of a good movement. Risky bidness when you stand against the Federal government when you're in politics- ask Blanco.

Jackson County Sheriff Denny Peyman has some advice for federal officials attempting to confiscate legal guns held by citizens in his jurisdiction: "go ahead, make my day."

Sheriff Peyman says he is very concerned about proposed federal legislation that could result in massive gun ownership bans and orders of confiscation.

"My office will not comply with any federal action which violates the United States Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore to uphold," Peyman said. "Let them pull that stuff in other places if they want, but not in Jackson County, Kentucky."

The good sheriff sounds like a great American.

It is my understanding that if a "gun grab" ever started, it would be up to county/parish sheriff's to enforce. More sheriff's need to speak up

Well I certainly both applaud and admire his gesture and do hope others follow.

They can't put ALL of us gun owners in jail.

I could easily see it happening in bigger cities(especially BR). Ones with under 50k, not so much because the people actually have a voice in the matter and the government listens

The 2nd Amendment exists for the security to maintain a free state and prevent oppressive govermnents, domestic or foreign, from denying the people the right of a free state. Our own government is attempting to disarm the very people that the amendment was created to protect. This shefiff is right on in his action to defend the Constitution from an oppressive government. It is just sad that it is the US Government who he has to defend against.
