Tell your best stories of run-ins/conflicts that you've witnessed concerning WMA's or other public hunting property.

My work e-mail is not working and I need some cheap entertainment.

Proceed...

Guy was a local diner by WMA, overheard some virgin cherry popper hunters talking about their hunts. One of the guys talked about his sound shots he took. Guy i know next to table asked what a sound shot was.... he said, i heard something in the bushes so I shot at it.

Exact same thing happened to me, but the guy called it a "Brush shot". This was somewhere near Boeuf River WMA.

Worst incident I ever saw was a guy rolled up and saw some other hunters in the spot he wanted. He hollered at them for a good long while, and then stood out in the middle of their dekes and refused to move for a good while. When the 2 guys finally decided enough was enough, they started to walk out there and forceably remove him from the premises, the jackass turned tail and finally moved.

I was in a booth two away from the speaker. I have two witnesses. I just can't remember the eatery, because I'm not from up there. We may have driven to Monroe to eat after the hunt. I will check into it though.

Interesting, I always have heard the stories but expected them to be more of an rural legend than anything...

My friends cousin shot a guy on PR WMA when he was 10 with his shotgun. Thought the guy was a hog. The guy was crawling through the bushes. Luckily the man lived.
Few years later I picked up my friend for a hunt and he says his cousin is coming as well. I said he won't shoot me will he. He said that was not cool.

Chad's is. The one I heard may have been the origin

This would have been in the late 80's.

Oh, and one of my witnesses just said he has no memory of it.

i tend to avoid conflict when guns are involved.

buddy of mine was camping at the wax wma and hunted that morning...returned that morning to find most of his stuff gone. He noticed some boot prints going off from his tent into the wooded area so he followed them and found most of his stuff at the base of a tree covered with a pile of grass. Found other ppl's stuff also including a pistol stuffed inside a mojo decoy

Oh, and I've seen more tempers flair on the golf course and on the water than in any hunting situation.

While duck hunting, had a guy come in real close right at shooting light. He was putting out dekes, blowing a duck call with the motor running. We killed several birds that wanted to be where we were. He spent all morning yelling at his dog. Then they started shooting at birds that were out of range and coming to us, so no one could kill any. We were peppered and peppered back. I had pellets in my coat pocket. I got mad and left my 2 buddies there. They told me later that when I cranked my 4 wheeler, the other group started picking up. They only stayed long enough to mess it up for both of us.
