How's that titan treating you?

Congrats!
I gave the ATAK 120 a hard look. They are some sweet rigs.

Man, between work, travel, rain, and a roof leak at my house....I still haven't even put it in the water yet. I have made time to start rigging it out with the Powerpole mount and the Lowrance though. I hope to put it in the water this week come hell or high water!

Interesting design. Trolling motor on the back?

They make a mount for a trolling motor to drop in through the center where the Propel drive goes, but I don't intend to use one.

Ive been wanting to pick up a kayak that I can mess around with while saving for a poling skiff. Ive always thought that id buy a native ultimate as they're light weight and easy to stand on. However im not keen on buying a new one and used ones are still north of the $1k mark. Is the Pelican Catch comparable? I understand its cheaper so not as nice but will it pretty much give me the same things I would get out an Ultimate? (not storage obv.)
Also I have an SUV. Will need to transport on top so weight plays a key factor for loading and unloading.
*I tried to search but didn't come up with much

Pelican Castaway
I don't see any way you could stand in it. It would get you on the water, but it's definitely not comparable to an Ultimate.

You won't be standing on a Pelican Castaway.

The model is Pelican Catch.... Sorry fellas.

Definitely looks more stable.

Ahh. Yeah, much better. That's wider than my Cuda and I can stand and fish in mine.

They're fantastic boats

Huh? A new Native Ultimate 12 is $949 (w/ free shipping and no tax!) and an Ultimate 14.5 is $999.
If you want a different sub $1k boat, look at the Pescador Pro. I think it has better fit and finish than a Pelican Catch.

I can barely stand in my castaway when holding onto a wellheld to piss. That thing is not stable at all

I feel the same with my native redfish.

Man, I can't wait to get one. That is one bad arse looking boat.

Kwatch, this is the yak I have. I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I've been with it. I've got plenty of room in it, nice amount of storage, tracks well for its size. Get a longer paddle especially if you intend on paddling with the seat in the high position. Light enough to carry without issue. Solid deck space for adding accessories. I can stand and cast in it without issue, although I'm positive it's not as stable as higher end yaks.
This is my first yak and I didn't want to sink a bunch of money into it before I knew if I'd like it. I absolutely love being out on the water in it.
You can get on the water for less than a grand with a solid rig.

After selling my small boat, I'm looking to get into kayak fishing. I'm eyeing up a Slayer Propel 13 after some research. I'm not in a hurry to make a purchase, and I was wondering what the typical update pattern is for these kayak companies. Can you expect a new model each year or is it every few years? Trying to better plan my purchase whether it be to find a deal on an outgoing model or the latest depending on whats new. Ultimately, should I wait around for the end of the year if something is usually in the works to see what it may be?
