Nice haul, ya was road side in the yak?
I hit up West Cove and fished south into the refuge, was foggy and a slow bite most of morning but found some off main cuts and deep, water was clean AF

We had to bounced around to a few launches from Leeville all the way up to Galliano. It was slow for the most part and had to get some of them at night.

Did find some nice reds in thunder bayou behind the snake pit
How did the water look in Leeville?

What happened with the water tower?
Posted on 4/16/19 at 9:56 am to lsuson
They put a fence around the whole property
Basically can’t fish anywhere near it
Well maybe if you launch down the road and take the main channel you could fish that main cut going into it,
but also heard stories of tires getting cut so frick those people

I fished it today. Caught one 12 inch bass.
I threw frogs, senkos, flukes, and even tried a swim bait where I could get away with it. I got 2 bites on senko. Caught one and missed one. I got dozens of hits on frog. Missed all of them.
There was one fish that hit the frog, I saw the line start to run and the rod loaded up. I waited a couple seconds to let her eat it and then set the hook. For a split second I felt the weight and the rod bent over, then the frog came flying out. At the same time the frog came out, the fish jumped. It was massive. Maybe even double digits. I cried.
ETA: bright and early
And here’s my one little baby fish

Honest question
Do the gators ever mess with ya in the kayaks especially at lacassine?

From the pic the grass and pads look bad already? and was told the center of that pool was the deepest, GoPro anything?
shite probably won’t make a trip into da pool (D) area this yr but wouldn’t mind taking a boat ride into the main lake
Just need to convince someone to to go...
And as for the gators I seen some 12+ footers in Henderson and LM, didn’t see any at Lac
but when I do I just turn around, no damn way I’m gonna stick around with that big bastard close

I did bring the GoPro, but I ain’t gonna bother editing the video for 1 small fish and a bunch of swings and misses.
I have no basis for comparison since this is my first year ever going, but the grass was pretty bad. As far as the middle being the deepest part, I wouldn’t know. Pretty much everything toward the center was covered in pads.
There were a few small gators, but they didn’t bother me. And every time I see gators while kayaking I just try to keep my distance. But I’ve never had one mess with me.

I startled a 12 footer at sheldon here in Houston a few weeks back. He was on the bank and I was so focused flipping one tree I never saw her. Back of my yak got blown against her tail and she freaked out. I almost went in as it caught me off guard. I have yet to have one follow me or approach me in general

Never had one come towards me in a kayak. Had enough of them that have followed my cork when fishing out of a boat, so I keep my distance when in the yak. And if I'm in a marsh cut and see a big gator slide on the bank, I'll back out of that spot just to be safe.
