The setup I mentioned will work well For cats 25 pounds or less what is the mississippi you can catch fish upwards of 100. For those you were going to want a heavy or extra heavy rod at a minimum. Many guys would use offshore tackle or surf casting tackle. Obviously for the big boys you will need to upgrade your line also. I would use circle hooks or j hooks. only

I was using voice texting. And it left out the word b I t c h e s. it also used duck instead of f***. But that was a 1 letter correction. And I may or may not have been driving at the moment.

Change your voice texting settings. There's a filter in there somewhere that autocorrects obscenitites.
