I actually want a .220 swift reallllllllllllll bad.
I like the .17 rimfires though. I have no practical use for them, but they are fun as hell to sling out to 300 yards.

Yes, but it must be cleaned every 75-100 rounds or it can go boom.

I bet that one will drive tacks. My stepfather has that one and it is a shooter. I have the Savage and it will stack them also.

You sound like you don't like the M2....

but I just dont see what niche this new cartridge is gonna fill. 22 remains wildly popular and the 17 HMR has been around for the better part of a decade or so. Will be curious to see how it sells after the novelty period wears off.
True.
As far as it's long term success, EVERYTHING will be centered on how expensive the ammo is..... I can't really seeing it supplanting the 17 HMR or 22LR for plinking. It would have a nice application for ground squirrel hunts, prairie dog hunts and some varmint hunts, but that's a pretty small niche market. OTOH, depending on the expense, it might price itself out of the market for those hunts. I went on a ground squirrel hunt this summer and burned #500 17 M2 rounds. Others in our party did the same w/ 17 HMR. For the HMR, that's close to $150 of ammo.
In addition, it'll be interesting to see who ends up actually making the ammo. Currently, all 17 caliber rimfire ammo made in the US is actually made only by CCI. Although Winchester, Federal and Hornady all sell 17 rimfire ammo, they don't produce any of it. May be hard for Winchester to get CCI to make the new round cheap enough to compete w/ the 17 HMR. Winchester may end up having to make their own ammo for their new cart.

Being a rimfire it will make one helluva WMA hog gun.
