I would love to have a double rifle, but I'm afraid it's out of my reach.

Anybody got love for the big boys from across the pond?
I am a fan of all well built sxs and o/u shotguns, not so much on the rifles, but still appreciate their craftsmanship...

The British doubles are a cut above. Cabelas is selling the italian doubles now but they can't compare to the old British ones. My uncle has a .475 nitro express as well as a .500 nitro both British doubles. Beautiful. They cost what a power stroke does but whatever. It's just money right?. Great thread.

My old man worked at a place that sold guns for a little while once. They had a gun come through that was a sxs 16 gauge from austria that was built for some prince in england a long time ago. Don't remember what the price on it was. He got to hold it. Said it was the most amazing piece of machinery he's ever touched.
ETA: And I really hate him for not taking pictures of it. He doesn't really have that much appreciation for that kind of shite. He doesn't care much if it isn't practical.

I have a list of sxs shotguns that I would like to pick up. A graded Lefever, something like this
and a Lindner Daly

The attention to detail on a fine sxs is stunning.

Those are awesome, I have a pre-WWII Browning Superposed Grade 1 that was given to me when I was a kid. Hard to believe it will be over 100 years old once I have kids and pass it down

Once you have held and swung a nice sxs or o/u you will never look at that pump or auto the same way again. They point like a wand...
