No, not at all. The continued thrust changes everything. An arrow is constantly slowing down and has no force to propel it in the direction it's pointing.

This is correct. An arrow (or bullet)will carry in the same direction as wind drift.

My theory:

Joe tried to kill a deer. Joe successfully killed a deer. Joe should tell everyone to frick off

Just pointing out that the statement isn't entirely correct.

In the context of a coasting arrow/rocket, the wind will push it the same direction as the wind is blowing.

But why is Joe shooting a Piece of shite Crossbow that only shoots 230FPS??

That is really slow compound range

This is going to be fun.

I’m interested in the “wind from right-aim arrow left” debate that is going to ensue, here.

"The Joe" Hunting Theory

I don't know physics but I've had a lot of arrows, bullets, and spinnerbaits effected by a cross wind and never has one drifted in the opposite directions of the wind. Furthermore how did Joe's arrow hit a foot high. Did gravity affect the fletching more than the broadhead and cause it to drift upwards? 007mag Theory: Unskilled Xbow Hunter.

No debate, I think hes right. Theres no vector component into the wind in the arrows case.

I just think it’s going to be a fun debate because men, overall, know physics.

But some will agree with it and some won’t. I’m actually still 5050 on it.

The only forces involved are drag, crosswind, and gravity. The arse end of the arrow will kick out like the rocket does but the overall flight path will be forward and with the wind.

There's really nothing to debate. It's all covered in that video. Powered vs non powered. Two totally different results.

You shouldn't be. If the crosswind was significant enough to cause a cocking effect as described, it would just destabilize and point into the wind but still trail in the direction the wind is blowing it. There is no force pushing it into the wind.

Think about running your boat across a river current. If you're moving perpendicular to the current and cut the motor, you won't all the sudden start moving upstream. The bow will want to spin around but you'll still drift slightly forward and downstream.
