They should have hired my 15 year old boy as a tester.

That boy has too much of his momma in him.

Are they waterproof? Because I’m terrible about dropping mine in the water on accident while trying to untangle my lure out of a tree

Yeah, as waterproof as any reel is where you will want to get the water out when you get home. First thing YouTube did when they got ahold of the DCs was make videos dropping them under water and seeing if they still worked.

This thread is not dissuading me from buying one.

For me this would be strictly an inshore reel. I’ve got freshwater setups for worm, spinnerbaits, etc. Have a couple of spinning setups if I know it will be windy. The appeal is the ability to throw a baitcaster when fishing for trout or redfish which I don’t typically do because it’s such a pain in the arse.

And I’ve got a 15% off coupon from Academy.

Anybody tried the DC with a cork and leader? Never threw a spinning reel till I started fishing under a cork. Curious if the DC would minimize and allow me to use a bait caster more often. I’d so I’ll buy one today

I would say it would absolutely make throwing a cork rig on a bait caster set up easier. That is just my guess though.

I’ve got a friend that swears this is the single greatest fishing invention ever. Is it worth the $250 price tag for the digital control?

They seem to cast well

i don't have one but my buddy does, and they seem to do well enough

not sure if it's worth $250 or not, or that I would want one around saltwater

i know it's obvious, but skill and experience go way farther than any gizmo

I have several high dollar bait casters that I have picked up in the last few years... Curado DC, a 13 Concept TXZ, and an Abu Garcia Revo Inshore. The Revo isn't nearly as easy to cast as the other two. Between the Shimano and the 13 reel, I feel like the DC is a bit easier to cast, but you can throw both of them a country mile without too much difficulty. In the end, I probably prefer the Shimano.
