I’m not hearing very good reports from SE LA - as usual for teal season, it appears they are all in the rice.

I know. I remember blasting mallards and wigeons with 7.5 lead shot in the early 80’s. Now you shoot a passing woodie or hoodie at 50 yards with #2 steel and chase it’s wounded arse through the cypress trees. And that on a good morning. Times have definitely changed.

Will be in Venice in Pass A Loutre working on the camp. Bringing the gun just in case. Will report back.

Was out working in Lake Lery, Bayou Bienvenue, Chef Pass, Lake Catherine, and Big Branch near the lake shore on Tuesday and saw 1 group of about 30 teal birds in the Bienvenue area. That was it!

Will probably end up in the blind down here on Saturday just because. Looking for anything at this point to get the slightest sense of normalcy after the last couple weeks.

Going Saturday regardless of survey or other reports, Delacroix area.

I'd suggest others do the same. Unlike regular season, early teal are notorious for just showing up day-of, and just the same you could have been holding some and find them gone next day.

Just heard form a coworker that there were blue wings in pearl river wma as of Sunday morning. Said that’s where he and his cousin are headed for Saturday morning. I’m still going to try out the small tract of Maurepas swamp wma in French Settlement on Saturday. Might just watch woodies but I’ll know where to set up November 20th.

Yes, i'll be in bayou black. Haven't had time to build blinds or do anything. If they are there, it won't matter. IF they aren't, i'll catch some bass.

Talking about the section near King George Road? I want to go scout that area for squirrel/rabbit/deer since its by far the closest public land to my house, is a boat needed out there or is there plenty of park and walk opportunities?

Lots of park and walk. One self clearing station is located on hwy 16 and the other is on power line that crosses king George bay road. More hardwood areas off king George bay road that the hwy 16 parking lot. Good luck.

One can only dream. Personally I'd be more than willing to endure a handful of 3/30 years to cut the number of hunters down some
If you hunted that last 3/30.. go wash your mouth out with soap.

But this is the longest run of 60 day seasons we have had in this flyway. by a healthy chunk

3/30 will do zero to affect the issues facing duck hunting in LA...
1. Rapidly degrading habitat
2. invasives
3. Increased mechanical disturbance of habitat
4. Changing land use practices here and elsewhere.
5.all of the above increasing at exponential rates over the last 40 years creating the perfect storm

I don't doubt it. I saw some video the other day talking about all of the Canadian geese (and others) that would migrate down to La back in the day. I don't think I've ever seen a Canadian that wasn't a tame duck in La. Maybe 200 feet in the sky or something, but I found it interesting that they aren't as prevalent here anymore.

ETA: the video wasn't a flyway federation video or any sort of thing like that lol, it was some video about the history of south La duck hunting I came across.

east coast canadas used to be a coastal marsh bird.. now they spend more time in ag areas....
