I'm looking for a place to take my daughter fishing around the northshore area. I'm looking to just fish off a pier or something since I don't have a boat. Any suggestions?

I haven't done much bank fishing around here but Fairview/riverside park comes to mind as a good likely place to go but you will likely get better info from others.

There's a pier to the right as you're coming off the causeway.

Can also try bogue falaya park. I'd imagine worms and crickets would do the trick.

Check the St.Tammany Pier out, it's in Slidell and part of the old Twin Span taken out in Katrina.

Yep, I would recommend the St. Tammany pier under the twinspans. It's pretty nice and you can get out of the sun and you absolutely will catch fish there using shrimp.

Ponchatoula Recreation Park off exit 42 from I-12. Covered pier on 3 acre pond, stocked with coppernose bluegill, black crappie, striped and largemouth bass. Gymnasium nearby with water fountains and restrooms. If the fishing is slow, feed the ducks or hit up the playgrounds.

Just an FYI, either they had a recent fish kill or the locals have fished it dry, because there’s a big “Catch and Release” sign and no fish in the pond.

It’s a nice park but you’ll have better luck at the park over by SLU. Smaller pond that’s stocked with bream and Kentucky bass

Yeah, there was a big fish kill recently. Because it was an oxygen issue, it was mainly the bigger bass and catfish that died. Perch population still thriving
