Put out 5 legal crab traps in canal next to my boat shed in Grande Isle. Someone stole all 5 Saturday/Saturday night. Which one of you baws did it?

Figures, glad you enjoyed the crabs. Can I have my crab traps back now?

Every time I put mine out in Dulac, at least one comes up missing. Its seriously annoying. I busted some crabbers 2 weeks ago. I put mine out well past the end of their string one afternoon. Came out the next morning and found 3 of my traps smack dab in the middle of Grand Caillou. They were running their traps right there and I went and asked them about it. They said someone was running their traps too and they knew nothing about it. Trash gonna trash.

Glad you didn't believe that bull shite story. Whats bad is that I don't have 4 or 5 crab traps to earn a living, just wanna have a crab boil at the camp and thieves gotta frick that up.

I run 10 from time to time in the Robinson canal area. One time I set out my traps in an area of the lake with no other floats. Came back the next day to a commercial guy’s traps next to each of mine and my bait had been emptied. Had a couple stolen too and at about $25 each rigged it is frustrating. Prior to BP I could catch enough to boil with ten traps now I am lucky to have 3 dozen after 24-30 hours

Only one solution, no float and a grappling hook. Not exactly legal but should eliminate anyone stealing the traps.

Thanks, chief. Obviously the intent of my story was to show how tough and badass I was being by taking some trashy crabbers to task with my 8 yr old in the boat.

My cousin is an oysterman in Virginia Beach.

He trail-cams at least one boat a week on top of his cages. NC and VA boat numbers for all to see.

They can’t steal his cages.....too big.

But they will try to take his oysters. Good triploids too. Big......tasty....good ones.

no need to get defensive. I was just hoping for a better ending than "I asked them about it and they said it wasn't them"

Ive tied mine off to banks using weighted ropes for years. No floats, got tired of having them stolen

happens all the time down there. Its worse when you put them out in the surf overnight. they run em, leave the door open. if you gonna be an a-hole at least close the damn door so I can catch a couple..

At least you still have your traps. Guess they thought it was too easy to steal mine after they ran them.

Where on the island are you? I put out traps myself at the end of the island and haven't had any trouble.

Good luck in the future. I'm on the far end too.
