We still have seen no chasing or real signs of rut in the spillman area. Anyone in that area have any updates?
I walked around yesterday morning somewhat scouting while taking care of a few odds and ends, couple rubs quite a few scrapes but nothing to write home about. I hunted yesterday afternoon and right at sunset a doe with a yearling came out about 225 yards away. I watched for about 15 minutes, fog started to roll in pretty fast and right before last light a big bodied deer came out about 150 yards and took a beeline straight to the doe. No clue what he was due to the fog and light. The doe hadn't separated from the yearling yet so take that FWIW.

I know of 2 different ones for sure and I think there is actually a third in the parish. Which one are you talking about?

You're over towards possum corner close to another poster here.

Know of two good bucks killed in the Tunica area the past two days. Both were chasing.

2 bucks killed on our place in Laurel Hill. Both were just cruising. A few people said they've seen young bucks harassing does but that's about it.

Gotcha, I grew up hunting Greenwood Rd, towards Solitude backing up to Little Bayou Sara, most of the visual heavy rutting/chasing came mid January.

Elevation changes are drastic in that area. Most of the lower places that are inside flood plains generally have later ruts, than outside.

Not sure how long you've been there but our old club "Two Oaks" was next to one of the Barrow Properties. That whole area incredible.

I'm hunting off of Hamilton Rd, and have access to a place just the other side of the state line on 967, but rarely hunt that.

Absolutely! I know they weren't running meth out of the old Silver Dollar back in the day, no clue what goes on way in the back though.

Last Sat I saw 4 bucks. 4 were pushing does around.

Saw one buck cruising this morning and had a young 8pt harassing a doe and yearling pretty hard about 20 min ago.

Scrape activity slowed down this week but may be due to weather

Hunt off of Sligo on the Bayou Sara side. Killed a 7pt. early Friday due to some poachers injuring the deer. Deer's back was broken and couldn't move, so I had the finish him off. Tarsel glands were still normal. Friday afternoon I was hunting and had a small 8pt. come into the food plot. Made a scrap then feed in the food plot with four does. Ate for about 30 minutes then left with the does still feeding. Getting close to the rut, but not here yet.
