torpedo grass.

I sold my last house because of this shite. Neighbor had some subsurface drainage put in and contractor used river silt as fill. that shite totally took over my front yard. Nothing gets rid of it.

Dimension

Hi Yield with Dimension? I just picked up a bag of that from Clegg's. The crabgrass in my backyard comes up in the same spots at the same time every July, and then takes over the St. Aug.

Do you have any idea if it needs to be watered in? I'm gonna spread it out Saturday after I mow.

ETA: Any idea if this stuff will keep Virginia Buttonweed from emerging too?

Quick google and I think the answer is no

Answer:

Hi-Yield Weed and Grass Stopper with Dimension Herbicide is not labeled for Virginia Buttonweed and we are not sure how well it work for this weed. We recommend you choose a product that lists buttonweed on the product label for best results such as Fertilome Weed Out Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec or Image 70DG. Virginia Buttonweed can be one of the most stubborn weeds to control and multiple applications of an herbicide may be needed.

I've got patches of friggin torpedo grass in my front yard and it drives me crazy. Just moved in to a new construction house less than 2 years ago and the lot was sodded with centipede. No idea how the torpedo got there but its there and it kills me that there is basically nothing I can do short of taking up my entire front yard and starting over.

Torpedo doesn't spread via seed. It spreads by plant rhizomes/root segments. It is in the fill and can take a while to become visible because it is putting on root growth and getting established . If you see any spots from new fill assume it is gonna be everywhere in the yard with a quickness.

Correct, this was coming from the clippings still in the mower they were using. They were cutting my yard and my parents yard. They would cut my parents yard before mine...my parents yard spring up first and was worse...then I started seeing it in mine. It was a couple years after the sod was laid that it was showing up for both yards. It came from the yard they did before us

Does anyone know what kind of weed these two are? Most of my lawn is brown with very green blades barely starting to poke out. However, I have these patches all over the yard and they have been green throughout most of the winter so I know it isn't my centipede grass

I don't know about the first one but the second pic looks like nutsage. But I don't know that it would be green and growing in the winter?

So went to a place and picked a few things they recommended. Did good...or got screwed

This is for insects...I don't have a huge problem but have a number of fire ant piles I kill. Idk if I'll use this or return.

This is for crab grass prevention mainly but some of the ones it lists I have seen. They said I could spread this in the garden as well if I wanted.

This is there generic mix for me to use in the garden. Good mix? To low on nitrogen? It's for a general layout of shrubs trees and flowers. I do have some teddy bear magnolias I want to beef up, they lost a lot of leaves after being planted. Will this be good to go?

And this is what they gave me for killing weeds. It's called a weed and feed but it's a 0-0-7 so they said it really doesn't do much feeding. They said to fertilize in April.

That Talstar is what Arrow pest used to use on my yard. When I figured out I could buy it in the store that's what I did. I had success with it.

Talstar is a great product. Works well with ants, chinch bugs, mole crickets etc. It is also a termiticide. It is a very fine granule so be careful spreading. The dimension works well and I have used the atrazine you bought but wasn't pleased with the results. Make sure your equipment is calibrated and you should be good to go.

I put down about 92 pallets of zoysia last October. Install crew put about 2" of loam down before the turf. Haven't put down anything on it yet other than water.

The turf looks great and is now turning green. But I'm seeing a bunch of pockets of different types of weeds pop up.

I've tried to read through this entire thread... seems like everyone has burmuda and St. Aug. Any recommendations or strict "don't do this" type of advice for Zoysia? Anything I need to be cautious of since this turf was put down in Oct?

I was debating the talstar...and it may seem strange...but I have a lot of frogs and lizards around my pond and house...will I kill off there food source? I have any mounds here and there that I currently kill them directly.

As for calibrating the spreader I'm in the dark on that. It's a Scott's edge guard delux. I usually just lay down Scott's stuff and follow what the bag says. How do I go about making sure it's set right for the high yield and atrazine?

Does the 5-20-20 seem good for the garden around trees shrubs and flowers? Should it have more nitrogen?

Figured I would post in this thread to let ya'll know I went with spring green to fertilize/kill weeds in my yard. I debated using a company for years and this year the weeds are the worst they have ever been so I'm giving them a shot along with being a guinea pig for people here and my neighbors. It's $40 per application with 7 applications in a year. I missed the first one so I'll only get 6. Price seemed fair since with the size of my yard I was spending $30-40 every time I would do it myself buying from the box stores.
Had my first treatment today and the technician said I would start seeing the weeds die within two weeks and if not call them back and they will treat it again for free. I'll get pictures I took today up when I can and post throughout the year as it progresses to give others a perspective of what a company can do vs DIY's.
Grass is centipede and the chemical the tech. used today was Three Way Ester II. Diagnosis for my yard was healthy with moderate weeds.
