The first weed on the first image is Virginia Buttonweed. It is almost imossible to control with the commonly available herbicides. There is a new product out that seems to be effective against VB called MSM Turf. It may take 2-3 applications but it will kill it. Your have to apply with Spreader Sticker

Any idea what's going on with my yard? These spots showed up a week or two ago and have slowly gotten bigger.

That's a pretty hard kill. I know you said it's spreading, but the edges of the dead spots don't even show signs of stress like I would expect with a fungus, or an insect.

Damn. I planned on treating it as a fungus for right now. I think i've been watering too much lately and watering in the evening. Going to cut back to once a week and in the morning. This was some sod I laid down a few months ago and it took very well, then this started recently.

So..... What to do.
Centipede
I sprayed with Weed Free Zone in early march I believe and the weeds came back. Right now my grass is starting to thicken up however I have random weeds everywhere and 5 or 6 clumps of crabgrass. I think the crabgrass I am just going to have to dig up and sod, however is there anything I can spray now. I believe Weed Free Zone is a no go above 90deg.

I also am seeing a few strands of torpedo grass.

I need professional help. Spoiled by spending over a decade in a house with a beautiful St Aug lawn, my current yard is poo poo. Pretty sure I have most every weed shown in the pictures. I’d gladly pay a turf company to come look and provide advice if there’s one in the BR that someone can recommend someone.

They sell a nutsedge killer in the retail stores..HD, Stine, Lowes, etc

It was well and kills that grass/weed in your pick.
I did it a few days ago and it HAMMERED it...and a few other weeds in my grass.

Hook to hose and spray.

am looking at torpedograss, correct?

I spot spray that shite with roundup. Over time, you can win. If I'm able to bring its blades together and spray em while I'm holding them...trying my best to eliminate collateral damage.

Works great. Theres also a yolo that you stick in and twist and it uproot it..works good as qell

So, here is my question:

looking at weed killers say don't apply if temp is over 90 and not to apply to bermuda if daytime temps are over 85.

I have widespread weeds (crabgrass, nutsedge, etc.) in a mixed grass yard, especially in the bermuda part. I want to apply Bayer Advanced, which has 2,4-D, Quinclorac, and Dicamba in the ingredients list. Here in central Alabama, the temperatures are settling into the summer pattern, which means middle 90s outside showers.

If I were to apply this product now, how likely am I to kill the bermuda I want to keep? Does the temperature make the treatment less effective against the weeks I want to eliminate?

In other words, am I screwed until the fall?

Thanks in advance.

No clue..I don't have Bermuda and dont worry about anything but st aug. You'll struggle until you decide which grass uou want. My life got easier once I just decided, screw the other grasses, I'm going with aug. I have a few hints of Bermuda in small spots, if it dies, it dies. It hasn't, but I dont care. I treat for my entire yard, and its huge majority of st aug.
.when I say I spot spray, it's with roundup and I expect a dead spot unless I can get the weed with hitting anything else....I use low low pressure on sprayer , sometimes just a barely dripping and get what I can without hitting the other grass.
I'll go look at label on Ortho, but is used it on Monday in s Louisiana and I demolished the nutsedge and a few other weeds. I plan an using another weed be gone this week to catch other types of weeds. I had spot sodded some area a month or so ago, and stayed away from any treatments until the sod took a good hold.

I would prefer St. Aug as well, but Bermuda covers 85% of the 10,000 sq/ft lawn, and I'm not ready to resod. I am trying to encourage the St. Augustine to spread, but it is a slow process.

Fungus or insect. I would treat for insects first and something specifically targeting grub worms.

Just go to a retail store and be weed spray designed for Bermuda...start there and see what it gets...then go from there

How can I get my Virginia Buttonweed to spread? My backyard has been completely taken over by various weeds, and the Virginia Buttonweed is at least a pretty green, looks the closest to actual grass, and has cute little white flowers. At this point I’ll happily take it over all the other weeds.
