I'm a rookie when it comes to lawn maintenance and need a little help. I'm curious about the Weed N Feed I put down a couple of weeks ago. I have St Augustine grass btw. I was trying to get rid of all the clovers and dollar weeds. It def made my grass greener but certain areas that I know I covered with it did not turn greener. Any reason why? I watered in thoroughly and continue to water my lawn every couple of days in this drought. Also how much water is enough water for your lawn?

I'll try it out and hand water/sprinkler this weekend.

I have some fertilizer that has been sealed up for the last 2 yrs. Think it is still good? That stuff is expensive.

Boot, is there anything I can do to control the Bermuda in my yard or am I screwed at least for this summer?

So, it is becoming apparent to me that my centipede lawn is rather infested with torpedograss.

I’m not exactly sure I’m not very good at identifying. Here are a couple pics. What do you think?

Looks like centipede. Use sethoxydim (Hi Yield Grass Killer). And sharpen those mower blades

In a bermuda lawn, Quinclorac. Anywhere else, nuclear option.

Yeah, my lawn is centipede. I guess I could use this as the impetus to upgrade to St. Aug, but I'm still kind of pissed about it

Anyone know why Bauer quit making Celsius? Tried to order some from domyown.com and see it is no longer available. They are recommending Blindside in its place.

Unfortunately St Aug isn't a good option either because there isn't a selective herbicide for St Aug or centipede for torpedo. Quinclorac controls torpedo and anything for centipede or St Aug "suppresses" which doesn't solve your problem. What you need to do is demo the centipede and remove the root system of the torpedo. It is extensive and you need to remove it all. Second you need to install Zoysia or Bermuda so you can use the Quinclorac as a selective herbicide to control any sprigs that may pop up. Depending on how extensive the infestation is you may be able to rent a dumpster to put that crap in and remove all that stuff from your property. Good luck!

I just don't have the time or will to go nuclear right now. The centipede is only a couple of years old, so I'm wondering if I could get zoysia to start taking hold from seed.

I'm tempted to attack the area in the back yard with roundup, then mulch it like a bed for a month or two with reapplications of roundup until I'm sure it's not coming back. Then I can reseed it with centipede. A lot of it is in a little swale in the back of the yard, though. I guess I need to really walk the yard slowly and figure out exactly how extensive the infestation is.

My wife not going to like any of the options that we need to choose from. Wish me luck.
