Gadwall aggravates me for some reason.

Every time I hear "gadwall" I think of Roddy McDowell in the movie "That Darned Cat."

Squealer is referenced to a Mexican Squealer aka tree duck.

Squealer is also a nickname for wood ducks.

Grew up and hunt in NELA and I didn't hear the term "grey duck" until I went to LSU and hunted with buddies in south LA.

Also, I think " squealer" is a dump nickname. I never heard that until I got on the OB.

You grew up in Nela duck hunting and never heard anybody call a wood duck a squealer? I find that hard to believe

I guess its odd I've never heard squealer. I grew up in Bastrop and went to hs in Monroe. They were always woodies or wood ducks.

I had heard a few different names for various ducks growing up, but it wasn't until college that I met people from Avoyelles Parish. Still don't have a freakin clue what they're talking about,

Watch it, baw.

Seems like just south LA people call them grey ducks. Raised in north LA and we call em gadwalls. Ring necks and blue bills are all jacks to me.
