No, no no. Wood ducks were called squealers before the black bellied whistling ducks even appeared here. We are not going to let the ignorance of a few change a well-established nickname. Wood ducks are now, and have always been, squealers.

The Call is even called Squealer.

That's a fact, but many folks called mottled ducks "blacks" or "black mallards."

Usually calls them greys, but also call them jagwalls.

I know that, just posting that most people call mottled ducks that, or summer French, or black mallards even though none have probably ever seen an actual black duck
