If this is for fishing, you do not want a sit-in kayak

The 12 will most likely track better, the 10 will be more maneuverable.

I'm probably getting one soon. It'll be the FS12T. The sit on top.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a kayak as well. I'm torn between a 10' and 12'. Is the extra cost for the 12' worth the better tracking and extra room?

I want to do it right the first time so I don't mind paying the extra cost for the longer length if it is worth it in the long run. It will mainly be used for freshwater fishing in LA and in the Houston area.

I like the extra space and storage and openness of a sit on top

I don't understand all the love for sit-in ascend kayaks. I feel like they are cheap and the people who brag on them so much have never fished out of a sit-on-top. Having done both I feel the SOT is 10x better for fishing than the SI. But if the reason for so many going with the ascend is cost then I can understand, as long as you find a way to get on the water with in your means, more power to you
