Yeah, its dumb, but 99.9% of people use common sense, but its just another one of those things that can get you in a bind if somebody REALLY wanted too.

If anyone is upset in this thread, they must have been breaking rules. I've been stopped tons, answered all the questions, and been let go.
First day of duck this season I didn't have WMA permit, but I didn't know I needed one where we were, complete accident. Got stopped, two agents, told them the truth, they let me go with a warning (but stated it would be my one and only for life).
Everyone I met was polite and just doing there job, but then again I've never had an attitude with any of them either.

What's in your freezer? If you don't have at least 12 ducks, you must not hunt much.

I cook a lot. Plus I got 3 hunters in my house, after everything's tagged, that's 36 ducks.

Do y'all really keep possession tags on all the ducks in your freezer?
I'm just saying, that if they look hard enough, they can usually find something to write a ticket for, even an honest mistake, just like not filling out a WMA entry card.

If for some insane reason a gw were to check out your freezer it's good to keep the tags if you have more than your possession limit...you'd get a ticket for not having them tagged before anything else

I pretty sure they changed the WMA entry card rule this year. I'm about 95% sure I read this in this years booklet.
And a possession tag is so simple to do, why not do it. Usually we cook nearly everything, but in the case of having things in the freezer and about to go on a new hunt, I throw a tag on the freezer stuff.
@AboveGroundPool, getting that 3rd guy a license is well worth the cost of 12 extra ducks.

Some of the proposed changes include:
Combining Deer Hunting Area 4 with Area 1 for the 2012-13 hunting season.
Extending the primitive firearm season in Deer Hunting Areas 1 and 6 for the 2012-13 hunting season to the end of January.
Removal of the requirement that deer hunters must record the validation number on their license after validating their harvested deer and extension of the amount of time required to report harvested deer from 72 hours to seven days.
Amending the language pertaining to the take of crows, blackbirds, cowbirds and grackles on private land and WMAs due to a change in federal regulations. Non-toxic shot and an annual report submitted to USFWS will be required.
Modifying firearms regulations pertaining to WMAs to be consistent with state law.
Eliminating the vehicle tag requirement from the self-clearing permit required to use WMAs.
Establishing Limited Access Areas on Joyce and Manchac WMAs.
Modifying the hunting season on several WMAs to provide additional opportunities.

I'm not trying to come off as "holier than thou" bullshite or anything.
But if you got 12 ducks in the freeze (and live alone, or with a family where you are the only hunter) and then go kill 6 more, and don't plan on eating them.
Then honestly why do you hunt? Just to kill? Why not give the meat away to someone that will use it? If you have a family of 3+ then twelve ducks should be no problem to run though. If you're the only one that eats venison, then why do you need so much. Odds are you just hunting and eating stuff out the freezer with an 12/10/2008 date on the ziplock.
shite, you might even be throwing away old meat to make freezer space.

Lit up a deer from a bomber. Just so happen to have a WF agent watching the deer when he lit him up.
Wow! What are the odds of that?

The same can be said for fish as ducks. Every family event we cook a lot of ducks and fish so I may need more than my 50 fillets or 12 ducks for the cookout.

First post. Yep they can do pretty much anything. Federal/state/local jursdiction. They have it harder then your local sheriff officer. Most of the calls they deal with someones going to have a weapon.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries – Enforcement Division (LDWF) is the fish & game regulatory agency of Louisiana. It has jurisdiction anywhere in the state, and in state territorial waters. The agency enforces both state and federal laws dealing with hunting, fishing, and boating safety. The agency also enforces criminal laws in rural areas including DWI enforcement both on highways and waterways. Most of the Department’s Wildlife Agents also carry Federal law enforcement commissions issued from the United States Department of the Interior - U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and United States Department of Commerce - U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). These federal commissions allow these state officers to enforce federal migratory waterfowl laws and federal marine fisheries laws in state and federal waters off the coast of Louisiana. Besides their traditional role as a “game warden”, Louisiana Wildlife Enforcement Agents also have a number of other responsibilities, including conducting board of health inspections on some portions of the state’s commercial fishing industry. Agents are trained in and conduct numerous search and rescue operations, both in remote land areas and on the state’s waterways. Agents ensure that hunters, anglers, boaters, dealers, breeders, farmers, and transporters are in compliance with regulations governing equipment, quotas, licenses, and registrations. Agents also assist other State departments and law enforcement agencies in the coordination of educational and professional endeavors, as well as national and state emergency alerts by the Federal Office of Emergency Preparedness. In addition, agents perform search and rescue missions alone or in conjunction with other local, state, and federal agencies.

They have the authority to enforce federal law, but that does not make them a "federal agent." They're still employed and paid by the State of Louisiana.
