Every year I say I'm going to fish the fall and winter but never end up doing because it's a busy time of the year for me. This year, I think I'll actually make a few trips. I don't want to mess up any hunters, so how/where can you actually fish the marsh without getting in anyones duck ponds?

If you see decoys, turn around.

Yeah frick that. I'll avoid the ponds with blinds in them, but I'm not avoiding the marsh entirely.

Bring a shotgun along also, if you bump into someone tell them they are in your spot that your PowPow passed down to you and that he won rights to in a poker game in the 40s

Wear a hat with the outline of the state of La on the front. Also a green/tan shirt with same state patch on shirt sleeve, and dare the frick out of em to frick with you. Oh, and a fake walkie talkie.

Just have some courtesy

Fish later in the day, I'd say at least after 9:00

You have to remember, unless you're on public land, someone owns the rights to that marsh. Someone is likely leasing the rights to hunt that marsh. You are technically trespassing so you have no argument with a hunter if it comes to that.

We have similar issues in Montegut. We lease some ponds East of Madison Bay that people fish all the time.. The marsh/land is privately owned but no one makes a fuss about people fishing it; just don't go and interfere with someone that has paid to have the rights to hunt it

I would suggest that you respect the fact that the land is leased to duck hunt(not cheap) and avoid disturbing the ducks. Fish in the main canals and you may be ok. We do not tell fishermen anything when it is not duck season. Let me catch you in the afternoon and you will be politely run off or arrested if you prefer. It is simple courtesy. It is only for a couple of months after all and it is private property.

Just go to places that do not have a lot of duck hunters. Cocodrie is a good place to avoid the hunters.

If you are on a WMA or a natural bayou or something like this, correct, but the second you enter a pond or a canal or something of the sort, you are entering someone's private property
