Live a couple of hours from N.O. and thinking about buying a tent or older pop up camper and heading down to Grand Isle to do some fishing this summer. Probably bank fishing until I get boat running. How is the fishing along hwy 1 or shoreline? Does the state park have primitive sites? Camping on the beach? Thoughts on such are appreciated.

Yes. The state park has sites. It's kind of brutal with the heat in the summer.

The state park is nice. Has bathroom/shower facilities. The summer best is rough as someone else mentioned. Also at night the bug can be brutal with no wind especially at dusk.

I stayed at the state park a few weeks ago.

First time in years. I was impressed at the facilities and the short walk to my campsite.

Seaweed was everywhere in the water so the fishing wasnt great, but everytging else was great. Would def go again.

Head north to Arkansas or SE Oklahoma and go after a different kind of trout.

Tent camping at 65 would not be ideal.
