Banded Grass Snake (Zoysia Banditomas). Pretty harmless when it stays on the other side of the fence. Becomes venomous when it crosses to your side.

Don’t cottonmouths and copper heads have a greenish tail? I don’t see that on this one. But the color patter looks like a cottonmouth. I would definitely treat it as it were venomous.

The banding in this pic looks to be identical to what is in the photo. Copperhead and Cottonmouth banding are pretty easy to tell apart IMO.

Those pixilated bands sure make it look like a cottonmouth. That's my vote.

I think I see some dots in the dark banding (like below). No yellow tail, may be a little older cottonmouth.
If he slowly moved away I would say cottonmouth for sure.

Nice!
Check out this one I saw in Gulf Breeze the other day. Thing has a creepy face in its scale color pattern.

Moccasin, but not a juvenile as no green tip on the tail.

Pretty sure that's a sloth, non-venomous.

the ones I've seen at Jean Lafitte are very dark colored, but in general they vary in color from brown to black.
this is one I saw at Jean Lafitte:
saw these in Pensacola:
^^^very young one-the juveniles have more pronounced, visible patterns, and are a lighter color

Yep, blackest I’ve ever caught - my personal favorite - was at Jean Lafitte. Even the belly was the darkest I’ve seen.
There’s a lot of variation by region for cottons.
